Picture this.... temperature around 27 warm , balmy nights and the Fence enjoying the majesty of a magnificent pool environment, does this sound inviting? Well I can tell you it beats the hell outa freezing cold conditions at CASEY FIELDS!

But out here you still have to worry about slitherers but up here they are far more dangerous and bigger than their southern cousins, Taipans, Pythons and Death Adders are out and about but there is another.... more menacing presence .... which I will alert you to at end!

Where am I?? Far north Queensland on Family business annnnd knowing there is a very very good local side "The Port Douglas Crocs" decided, upon hearing some footy sounds emanating from the local oval, decided to mosey on over...

This team is the all conquering pre-eminent perenial premiership winners for last few teams and thinking that training will just be glorified Circle work well, you could not be further from the truth.

SKILLS, DRILLS AND MANUEVERS

Missed warm ups, probably coz ist soo hot up here you are already warmed up!!

The coach was enthusiastic, and seemed to want to instill a fast free flowing game foundered on rebounding defence and quick ball movement. Some of the drills I have seen at Casey reminded me of some similarities at Dees, things like skills under pressure, creating options and space, pressure at the contest seemed to be the order of the day. Seems to be a very well run organised club who take their AFL SERIOUSLY, very seriously. Apparently many kids are interested and there is a 7 team competition.

I'll leave you with this commentary that would not be outa place in Footy in the far north..

Centre bounce

Pencil goes up, cleverly palms dexterously to top inside mid, Tank who transfers the air conveyance to free running and Hot..Sunshine. He gathers and evades traffic before sending a bullet like pass to Flash. Flash holds it up before playing on dodging weaving evading tantalising and mesmersing opposition before seeing and opening and delivering LACE OUT to competition glamour forward Sea Turtle. The turtle is a liitle too far out and decides to land it in the goal square. He kicks a big pack forms........ Annnnnnnnnnd Its ROBBO MARK 2 ( who followed the Demons all his life) and favourite player was Russell Robertson who launches himself into the stratosphere to Claim yet another MOTY Nomination...

Crocs by 6 pionts ... 2 minutes in

at that stage the pool beckoned a few glasses of cleansing refreshment and I left clearly impressed with local Footy Club Port Douglas Crocs

Oh and the sign I saw at potential fishing hole was this

Don't know what to make of this Mr Fence but sounds like you're on a bloody good bender.

Did they win?  Sounds of Crocodile Rock theme song wafting over the boggy marshes poolside?

you call that polite!

Too many petrol fumes for you Crompton, I was referring to your  post as being polite.  I'm not sure it was.

Oh and now I see that you have been censored by the Hitler brigade of moderators on here. Andy needs to be careful he will start driving the actual contributors off to Demonology. You watch this will either be deleted straight away or left up for fear of what I'm saying being true.

FNQ. Very well named,  quite like the RSL on the water for dinner and drinks. And four mile beach is a lovely curve of sand.

been some years since I was up there but it’s the spot to lay back and relax. Though the crocs have been known to swim in the ocean, so poolside with a bar, I think,

great report, just like Casey.

I'd like to say that Picket's opening post is as informative as all his other training reports.

While I like saying it, though, it isn't true. Come back Picket. With Saty's scooter not authorised to venture out of inner Melbourne, we need you and your colourful training reports.

A bit late but it seems that there really was a training session for the Demons yesterday and it was an important one.

Hibberd, Petty in line to replace May

The session was billed as one to determine whether Michael Hibberd or Harry Petty would come in to replace the injured Steven May but with Bayley Fritsch’s injury, both might fight their way into the side for Sunday.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Gentle flush session at Gosch's this morning. Absent: May, Pickett (All Stars) McVee, McAdam. Rehabbing: Great to see Kentfield back (much slimmer), walking with Tholstrup, TMac (suspect just a management thing), Viney (still being cautious with that rib cartilage?), Melksham (

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
