Massive game for Jordon. What he do in the middle against a top midfield.

bowey and Laurie could make round 1 debuts with strong performances.

Can’t wait to see the boys play!

Massive for my supercoach team...

In the B match vs Richmond he was in the right spots quite often, but not much seemed to go right for him during course of match.  Bowey/laurie/Petty/Bedford were pretty clearly our best players on the day and all get rewarded with a taste.  Petty could possibly swing forward or back depending on our needs vs Dogs.  Rapt to see young talented players given the green light ahead of someone chosen for the sake of having a key position forward.  We have enough up and coming talent that every week should create headaches for team selection, hopefully keeping all of our list hungry!

Great opportunity for more midfield development for Sparrow and Jordon and next level exposure for Laurie and Bowey. I hope Bowey, Laurie, Petty and Bedford really make it hard for selectors for round 1. We are missing a lot vs a very strong Bulldogs side so today for me is about no injuries and those on the edges to really press a claim.

Still got (albeit slim) hopes of seeing Salem used maybe high hf/sometimes wing, so keen to see how the backline goes today without him there.

Disappointing not to see Salem and Oliver out there today

Forget swinging players around we need a chf and ff

To be honest I’m glad we are resting anyone who is not 100%. Imagine if Salem pings a hammy today? Or Oliver? You’d be furious at their poor management.
I’m all for minimizing risks at this stage. Let’s just hope both get up for round 1. Oliver seems a non issue. Hope Salem is the same.

We will have both...just not the guys you want atm.  We will be fine without them for few games.  We got options to be a functional forward line before they get back though.  Most team don't have a great CHF/FF package.

Me too. Sort off.

If you include bowey, who they want play at hb, down back we have the following players in the mix: bowey, hibberd, lever, may,  jets, Salem, rivers petty, smith and tomlinson.

Ten don't go into 6. Salem is in our best 22, so playing him somewhere else would create one spot down back.

I used to keen for him to be tried on the wing, but don't think he has the pace or the tank.

But I could see him as a high half forward. Would mean his kicking skills would help our inside 50s and accuracy for goal. And his defensive work would be good for forward half pressure.

Seems a long shot though, given I think he has been trying with the defenders.

Yeah, definitely a long shot, and agree he might not have the tank for the wing, which is why I'd would just try him out high hf with some periods on the wing. We've been bemoaning our forward delivery and long bombs for so long and I understand we had back half turnovers to worry about too, but the backline feels safer now so would be keen to get some of Salem's short kicks going inside 50, particularly once we have Ben Brown in there leading hard.

Oliver, Salem, Brayshaw, Viney, Hibberd, Melksham, B Brown and Weid all out.

Meanwhile the Dogs have a near full strength side.

Hard to see us winning this one, but hopefully a few lesser lights can step up tomorrow and show that we have good depth.

Agree. That’s 8 out of our best 18 (22) ... good to see guys like Sparrow, Jordan and Bedford having a step up.

dumb statement, it's just about the most important thing to have and every club works their [censored] off to set up a spine that is elite and builds out from that

i hate that every season the pecking order seems to reset and we see all the hard work he did last year get thrown out but i back him in to work his way in at some stage before the seasons done. he'll thrive off being tossed out, kind of player you know just loves proving doubters wrong and has been doing it his whole career

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
