Forget the AFL clubs, they aren’t all that important, it’s the AFL’s relationship with the MCC and their relationships as owners of Marvel with the companies they deal with that matter.

When combined with the egg on face on fixing a problem that shouldn’t have happened to begin with the games were never going to be swapped.

There’s still time to find other ways to move Essendon and Hawthorn if they really want. Swapping it with North v Port the next day and moving it to the G is the obvious one. Just have to give 7 a slight IOU for moving their Saturday night game to Bris-Sydney.

My opinion on this can be summed up in these famous words from Jethro Tull.

Essendope can lie in the cesspool of their own greed and the deal made with Marvel.

Thick as a Brick, Part 1

Really don't mind if you sit this one out
My word's but a whisper your deafness a shout
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter your love's in the sink
So you ride yourselves over the fields
And you make all your animal deals
And your wise men don't know how it feels
To be thick as a brick
And the sandcastle virtues are all swept away
In the tidal destruction the moral melee
The elastic retreat rings the close of play
As the last wave uncovers the newfangled way
But your new shoes are worn at the heels
And your suntan does rapidly peel
And your wise men don't know how it feels
To be thick as a brick
And the love that I feel is so far away:
I'm a bad dream that I just had today
And you shake your head
And said it's a shame

Was never going to happen  because of reserved seating arrangements already locked for each of the clubs, and covid restrictions.

The clubs are going to have more than enough problems allocating and spacing that reserved seating at the grounds they already use as "homes".

Marvel doesn't fit into MCG because of Medallion club, and MCG doesn't fit into Marvel, because of Medallion club.

The Medallion Club is something that needs to be fixed.

Often half empty it takes up the majority of the prime viewing space.

At the MCG the AFL area is often reduced for Essendon games as their members reserved seating areas are in the Southern Stand.

This is the headline etc on the AGE at the moment:

No change: Bombers clash with Hawthorn to remain at Marvel

The AFL have rejected Essendon’s request to move their round one fixture with Hawthorn from Marvel Stadium to the MCG, meaning less fans will be able to attend the match.

Shows where where are in the pecking order i reckon. As it should read:

The AFL have rejected Essendon’s request to move their round one fixture with Hawthorn from Marvel Stadium to the MCG, meaning less fans will be able to attend the match BUT DEMON FANS CAN WATCH THEIR TEAM AT THEIR HOME GROUND NOT TH E OLD SOULESS JOKE OF AN AFL GROUND - JOKELANDS

I hope the bombers enjoy traveling in round 2 to lose to Port, Marvel again V Saints, then SCG, and then the Gabba to lose aginast the Lions. Even Cardinia park later in the season.

Suck on a fat one dons

I suspect Essendon already knew it wouldn't happen. Strengthens my view that it's all part of Essendon's long game to move to the MCG as a permanent tenant.

You'd think journalists would know the difference between number and mass.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
