Source?

just a guess pw. that tom was seen entering a hospital. apparently his new born had to spend time in hospital this week, so probably just an assumption by someone he was in for scans?

Tom’s baby was at the Royal Children’s. I dunno what dumb journalist thinks a footballer would go there for scans?

Maybe because of his youthful good looks?

I saw someone post this information on a Facebook group but I don't think there was a source listed and I have not seen this reported anywhere else. If there was a fire then there would be more smoke about this.

Channel 7 news had a report that Tom went in for scans with video of him. Previewed the story before the Sports segment. Then repeated exactly the same thing in the segment, but that was it, no further information, no hospital name.

Really crappy 4 second piece, which now seems like just clickbait.

Could be why Weid was added as emergency?

MELBOURNE defender Harrison Petty has been given the all-clear after an injury scare during Saturday’s clash with the Hawks.

Petty came off during the second quarter with a suspected hamstring injury but tested well and played out the remainder of the game.

He is expected to be back to full capacity after a strong training session on Monday.

And in opposition news, Lachie Neale has injured himself at training. If we can stay fit and healthy we'll win the flag. The opposition are all dropping like flies. Is this where Burgo helps win us a flag?

If we don't take advantage of this blessed and magical run of injuries in 2021, we are idiots.

This sort of run is extremely unusual, and we will regret it if we don't capitalise on it.

*Goes to knock on all available lockdown wood*

Just a stinger - he’ll play this weekend. He better as I’m out of SuperCoach trades ?

He was pictured in training on the website, so assuming it was just an ear infection you can assume he's over that otherwise he wouldn't be out in the cold!

Injury List: Round 20

Bailey Laurie (shoulder) — Test

Mitch Brown (heel) — 1 to 2 Weeks

Marty Hore (knee) — 5 to 6 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

I thought this was an interesting observation from Justin Leppitsch in an SEN article evaluating his Top 3 Premiership contenders

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/07/27/justin-leppitsch-breaks-down-the-top-three-premiership-contenders/

"Leppitsch went on to say Melbourne’s good fortune with fitness could leave them vulnerable when the finals blowtorch is applied to their tactics, not having been forced to experiment. You don’t have many variations, (and) you often become a bit of a sitting duck, which I think Richmond was a little bit in 2018,” he recalled.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
