If you’re referring to Dusty to be fair Hibberd had put a blanket over him before his injury. Though I do agree we have had some luck with other teams going a man or two down at points during the game.

No, I just mean lots of other teams like are having bad years and I think a big part of it is their injuries.

That’s normal. It’s almost a universal fact that the teams at the top of the ladder are the least affected by injuries to key players.

Correct. Richmond had a golden run in all their premiership years.

Nobody can really win a flag with injuries to their key players. I reckon the Dogs last flag, was probably the most impressive in terms of the injuries they had throughout that year. 

Winning a premiership is as much about luck as it is about talent.

It’s the least reported, or perhaps commented on fact in AFL footy. If we can keep banking wins whilst the list is so healthy, we’ll ideally cover the injuries that will inevitably (hopefully not) come. That, and for once we appear to have good depth on all lines. Having said all that, I seem to remember that for Richmond’s first flag of their run, they had only one player from their entire list unavailable.

No one cared about that in 2019 for us, including a fair percentage of the supporters, I don't give a rats about other clubs injuries.

There was a point in 2019 when we held the AFL record for players (games experience) unavailable through injury. It was the main reason that year derailed, and why it’s taken til now, with players accumulating ‘games together’ to see our true potential.

A couple of coaches of struggling teams (Fagan and Rutten) have called for shorter quarters tor return.

Nothing like getting your season back on track by changing the rules.   They are petrified of the superior fitness of the Dogs and Demons.

Quite possibly, the quarters as they are have been around for a long time, maybe they shouldn't blow time on every time there is a stoppage.

Cats got a massive advantage last year with the shorter quarters and hardly traveling in the second part of the fixture.

According to the media it was ‘never an excuse but it was a reason’ what does that even mean. 2019 was absolutely caused by two main factors. 1) Preseason 2) 666 rule which exposed one of our major strategic weaknesses. 
 

2020 was probably more COVID related and a change to game style which we are only really swing the fruits of now.

Not only is it not commented on, it’s taboo and seen as excuse making when you do mention injuries in the context of losing game. Bottom line is you can’t replace your best players. If we lost Trac and had to replace him with Tom Sparrow, that’s quite clearly a significant step down in class and would be enough to influence the result in a tight game.

If there’s one thing I have learned, it is that you don’t trust these injury lists that the AFL issued, especially if they don’t bear the imprimatur of Mr Burgess. This one omits to mention the likes of Mitch Brown, Jay Lockhart and AVB who were mysteriously missing from the Casey lineup last week as well as Harry Petty as mentioned above.  Given that there’s a VFL game on later today and we have yet to hear officially from the club, I’m guessing that there are one or two mystery injuries about to be revealed.

SCOTT can see another Final after half time Being overrun due to the old brigade in Cats colours too slow and  Unfit.

BTW Based on last weeks report Laurie should have been 5 as he was 6 last week and Smith should have been 5-7 Weeks as he was 6-8 Weeks last week.

So Laurie has gone from 6 Weeks to 6-7 Weeks.

Smith has gone from 6-8 Weeks to 8 Weeks.
