2020 Player Reviews: #27 Aaron Nietschke

Hasn’t really gotten onto the park since he was drafted two years ago due to two ACL operations since that time. Looks like getting another chance via the rookie list.

Date of Birth: May 26, 2000

Height: 184cm

Weight: 82kg

Games MFC 2020: 0

Career Total: 0

Goals MFC 2020: 0

Career Total: 0

Good luck Aaron it has been an awful start to your career, I hope that you have some luck this pre-season and that you can at least show us some of your tricks in 2021.

Time for him to re-evaluate all values.

A speculative late selection who can't get on the park. I can't believe we are seriously contemplating giving him a year on the rookie list, particularly after taking Rivers to fill the same position last year. It's unfortunate for him, but some things just aren't meant to be.

My source within the club speaks so highly of this kid. Apparently his application to his rehab has been elite for his age. Given this is the only thing we can base him on, I think he's deserved of another year. I believe the club make this happen, even if it's as a rookie.

I don't know much about him but despite being a late pick (53), apparently Nietschke won the SANFL U/18 best and fairest last season after averaging 32 disposals per game for Central Districts. That's a pretty good return.  He also first did his knee mid Feb, so they did see 3 months of training pre-season before his first injury.

If they do keep him, while list sizes are being reduced,  it'll be because they see something.

On the comeback trail after two knee reconstructions. Hope he gets some luck and gets on the park. Handy half back option but we shouldn’t expect much from him in 2021. Should get a rookie spot as promised by the club.

Agreed. I'd heard at the time of his recruitment (two seasons ago) that he had talents above most, mobility and courage. I'd wish him well with his recuperation, of course, but not discard him - he does deserve a chance to show what he's got for us - and several previous onlookers were most impressed with such talents.

Gawn on the Podcast said Aaron is professional as they come and it will be a big moment when he does debut for Casey and for the MFC.

A Feelgood story when Aaron  plays his first game   Must be highly regarded to be kept on the list after two knee reconstructions, let's hope the luck turns for the kid.

I be looking forward with interest when Aaron makes his debut.

We don't have many elite standard trainers so we should keep him on or give him a chance. Will be a good player if he can get a break.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
