Thought it would be good idea to condense all known/reported player movements not related to MFC into this thread here for discussion. If mods deem this as unnecessary feel free to delete.

So far we have

Atkins to Gold Coast - UFA

Williams to Carlton - RFA

Saad to Carlton - Trade requested

Hately to Adelaide - Trade requested

Daniher to Brisbane - RFA

Cameron to Geelong - RFA

Crouch to St Kilda - RFA

Hartigan to Hawthorn - UFA

Might be missing some but those are the ones I can recall.

I wouldn't rule out a third team coming hard late for Saad. the Blues are gunna play hardball and push him to the PSD if they have to and the Bombers will want ALOT. i reckon if another team asks the question late and can convince Saad they may be a chance to steal him.

Would love for Adelaide or North to pick him up in the PSD so both Carlton and Essendon lose out. Ultimately though I think Carlton will split their first pick and Essendon will reluctantly accept a late first rounder for him with perhaps later pick swaps to save face.

fantasia and Z Langdon?

Feel free to discuss them but I haven't included them in the initial list because as far as I'm aware they haven't been linked to a specific club. Have heard they want to move to SA and WA respectively though.

Carlton will get the deal done

Forgot about Corr. North must have made a really nice financial offer for him to go there. With Cameron, Williams and Hately leaving GWS are going to have a slew of early picks again. Feel they've lost too much quality for it to matter now and they should be occupying the bottom half of the ladder for the next few years. Wonder if the likes of Kelly, Whitfield and Taranto will be gettable once the ship starts to sink.

Caldwell has nominated Essendon as his club of choice to be traded to. St Kilda were allegedly front runners but the commitment of crouch as a rfa probably impacted this. Gws bleeding players at the moment. Hard to see us acquiring any other Gws youngsters after the exits they've had.

On a reported $2.5 million contract offer over five years. Wow. I should have concentrated on football instead of girls and booze.

RIP his career and any chance of happiness

Just announced on 3aw that Jay Caldwell has requested a trade to Essendon

5 year deal for Caldwell to the bombers? Is that right? 2nd year player that hasn’t done much to date. Smells a bit desperate. Could turn out ok but bit risky. Is only 183 cm so not exactly that big mid they need.

Based on what Essendon want for Saad they might have to use pick 6 for Caldwell. They might regret using the term compelling compensation

You can still ditch the girls and booze and get back to the sherrin.

Interesting considering they appear to have problems and still have Shiel, Merrett, Smith, Parish, Heppell, McGrath, Stringer and a few others who can play midfield.

Reports on afl.com of both players requesting a trade to Port and West Coast respectively as widely speculated.

SEN reported that he will be on around $550k a season for 5 years.

This for a bloke who has played 11 games and hasn't won more than 16 possies in any of them.

Just goes to show what you have to pay to get players to your club when you aren't much chop.

Happy for him to go the Bombers as well considering the last place I think they need to add players is in their midfield right now.

Rory Atkins officially a Suns player after accepting a 5 year deal worth approximately $400,000 per year.

Adelaide have been compensated with an end of 2nd round pick, currently pick 36. They've done well out of the compensation in my view.

I guess it's time that Isaac Smith to Geelong is added to this thread...

Indeed.

Smith to Geelong on a two year deal ($$$ not specified)

Hawthorn receive a 3rd round compensation pick, currently pick 42.

As a side note, our pick 47 has now slide out to pick 49 and this is before compensation is handed out for Williams, Corr and Daniher (if bombers don't match). This will change further with academy bids and may even come in slightly as 2nd and 3rd round picks get swallowed up in the process.

Joe Daniher officially a lion after agreeing to a 3 year deal.

Bombers receive a 1st round compensation pick, currently pick 7.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
