Interesting West Coast figure but then they didn't play many matches at home.

We won the free kick count versus Cokers in the first round, a freak of nature. I doubt our luck would have held if we had made it to the finals. As this table shows, there’s no team more likely to enjoy the umpire’s good favours than their pet Pies, so in this regard there should be at least a level playing field for their final.

How about goals against in last 30 seconds of a quarter.  Would put money on us being frontrunner there!!

To be fair there was no crowd at the Eagles game to influence Margetts.

Umpires have been looking after Collingwood ever since mid-2018 when the Channel 7 boss said he would like them to be 'up and about'.

Yes, these are the ones that cruel us often, and quite often close in to opposition goals if we are ahead at any stage of a game. Some of these are really shonky decisions to 'keep a match alive', depending on the umpires concerned.

As far as I’m concerned, this tells me that we didn’t apply pressure or tackle enough!

How does a wooden spooner get so many free kicks.

Crows fans are shockers. So are the umps this year.

Yes, so although the lack of crowd influence might explain the WC losing some of their natural free kick advantage this year, we see the Pies still doing very well. Despite the decreased threat (at least on match day) of being bitten by an angry rabid Pie fan (albeit a largely toothless bite), higher influences on the umpires such as referred to by Clintosaurus continue to play a dominant role.

As for North doing so well despite being such a rubbish team, maybe the pattern of the jumper sets off an automatic reflex in the umpire’s, and they pay the free kick, before realising that the blue isn’t black.

Pies played a lot of games in Queensland and had a lot of local support from ex-pat feral pies.

Absolutely.  We gave up goals too easily in the last minute of every game. Last game v bombers, they scored two goals after the siren  for qtr time and 3/4 qtr time. Ridiculous.

We have been robbed again.

Unfortunately we didnt play enough from in front or behind...

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!
