Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo, Spargo and Clarry Clarry Choo Choo?

I thought we had a moratorium on calling for Spargo's head I need the last couple of weeks

Apparently not.

Majak played his best in defence and hasn't been played there since returning.

If we have not targeted a KPD 2nd tall, then he'd be a last resort on a 1 year contract. Lock down or CHB. A majak at his best frees May and Lever to dominate elsewhere (As does OMac when playing at his best)

Speaking of, Do we keep Tom Mac and OMac in 2021? If not, then he could at least be a stop-gap player that could switch into either of their roles when needed.

Does Petty get healthier? Majak can be a 2nd tall if not or a backup if so.

I highly doubt we'd go after him, and fully expect OMac to be backed in given the sunk cost fallacy we have with the years put in. But if delisted,  then we need to start looking for another tall down back.

the only player i'd consider is lachie hosie at 22 in that HF goalkicking lead up role that none of hannan, hunt, nibbler, melky have played well this year but realistically theres a reason hes been given the chop so we steer clear of them all, and hopefully follow suit with our own cull

Care to name the 11?? I reckon they would be similar to mine!

Bradtke, O.McDonald, Wagner, Jones, Hore, Dunkley, kolodjashnij, Wagner, Jetta, M.Brown, Bedford.

That's my 11. And that's excluding T.Mcdonald who I would find a way to get him off the list.

Jetta is contracted for another year. You will need to "find a way to get him off the list too."

Don't ever recall such a clean-out on day one of post-season. Add in any retirements and wantaways (even more likely now) and trades and with reduced lists it could be a more than 50% list turnover in one year. That's insane.

This a most unusual year as contracts are up at the end of October so clubs will move quick. Second depending on the results our boys will be back home straight away if we miss the finals. The hub life and fancy accomodation paid by the AFL stops once the clubs season ends. Players wanting to stay on do so at their own expense. Look at Port they told 6 players yesterday they could leave the hub and go home, and they are in the finals. Third list sizes are going to be reduced so for some there will be no coming back and zero opportunity at another club.

Also consider once the season is over and the hub finishes it may be the last time the club can keep the players as a group. Thy will scatter and wont be able to have exit meetings back in Melbourne.

I'd rather try and get Nathan Carroll out of retirement than give Majak a one year contract.

done

Could they be offloading Brown hoping for another 1st rounder and thus having 3 x 1st rounders this year? Could go some way towards injecting quality over this 11 x dross. Better get it right, Norf! Not the best of drafts to hedge your bets

I would take Majak for nothing on a rookie deal. There, I said it. Come at me - I probably won't respond (as I have nothing to back this instinct up). We need some more tall players maybe? Surely he's an upgrade on someone on our list?

I thought this was about Norf?

That's one hell of a clearout. I guess with lists apparently shrinking they've got in early.

Is Daw worth considering if he's in the right space for a restart?

He's the worst of the lot...not with  a ten foot pole.

He's got quite a measuring stick then!

Daw outperformed Goldstein for about 3 weeks. But I reckon Goldstein is [censored] so...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
