Quotes from Olisik regarding the Pickett thread from July last year.

We need to look at this kid as a second round pick up. Exactly what we need

Sorry, back to Kysiahah Pickett. Get this kid on the list. In the second clip I posted you can see he can tackle to.

Compared to Cyril Rioli and also is a Cousin to our own Nev Jetta which should squash any go-home factor fears.

If we split for pick 17, we must pull the trigger

I started that thread months before he was even on anyone’s radar.

My point here is pick 17 or a second rounder. I am talking about pick 8 here.

Sorry mate, sorry I didn’t conform to dictator Dazzles forum opinion. As I said earlier if you don’t like the thread, [censored] off oppose to trolling/derailing as per usual.

Our recruitment has been very good recently imo and drafting Pickett is no exception. He has an x-factor that is rare. It's down to development now. If he's coached properly and can learn good habits then we have a serious player.

We had pick 8 mate, from North...just like we had pick 2 before trading it for Tyson. We had every chance to take Serong as we did Kelly.

Must be embarrassing always being wrong Dazzle and using multiple accounts to troll.

You're embarrassing yourself big time. You kicked and screamed that you wanted Pickett, we got him and now you're trying to do a runner because it doesn't suit your current narrative because some other kid is getting a bit more of the footy.

Where was this post few weeks ago against Hawthorn? Or Adelaide when he got the rising star nomination? Oh that's right, you went missing as usual, back in that little hole that you live under the ground.

Go troll on your own supporter board at Collingwood.

It's incredible really.  But laughable and unsurprising as well.

Although I feel a little dumber for having indulged him to be honest.

It is a valid discussion. However, we have all seen our draft rankings and Robertson was the 5th player on our list so if we were going for best available rather than needs, that is who we would have ended up with.

Serong wasn't able to get involved as a small forward so that part is just garbage.

Our list management and strategy has been poor and this is a fair question to be asking.

Serong has been good, however I watched him against Richmond and he quite literally ran around free with no one on him.

He got a lot of touches but did zero damage.

Pickett will be a good player for us and offers something we didn't have, x-factor.

What I would question is why we drafted guys like Sparrow and Jordon when we had so many inside mids. No slight on those two, it's more list management and recruiting.

Jason Taylor has done some good things, but I question whether he has blinkers on at times about players fitting a certain mold.

All depends on succession planning with Sparrow and Jordon. Happy to have them on the list, especially with some question mark over long term roles of others.

Will this be another one to come back and bite us? Pickett getting a lazy 4 disposals with Serong getting 22 last week.

Yes Rivers was part of the trade however this smells like Kelly/Tyson all over again.

Would die for some class like Serong up forward right now, the game on Monday will be interesting

You are very strongly against drafting Caleb Serong in the thread: 'Taking Serong would be a disaster'
You describe his as a slow inside mid.

Game, set and match.

He has recruited well considering the profile he’s been asked to recruit for (contested ball winner).

I agree that the balance is wrong overall which is a strategy failing. I have confidence in Taylor delivering talent if we give him the right specs. Jackson, Pickett and Rivers are as good a trio as any club selected in the draft (bar gold coast but Rowell and Anderson were always going 1 and 2).

Jordon was originally drafted as an outside mid. Even when he was playing at Yarrawonga seniors, he was alternating between wing and half forward because of his kicking skills.

Gets to Melbourne and was gobsmacked that Goodwin was training him to be an inside mid.

That's On Goodwin, not Taylor.

I don't think Freo would be swapping their batch. That's a very balanced top 3 that they selected.

Yeah wow.... I guess questions to be asked about whether Goodwin and the development team have what it takes and understand how the modern game is played.

It seems at the moment they don't.

I'm definitely not saying the sky is falling in, as I still think we have the nucleus. We just need to make some adjustments to personnel and the gameplan.

True. I forgot about Freos draft haul this year.

We are crying out for another inside midfielder like Serong

Lol @ coming on to investigate other posters rather than focusing on the dees.  At least provide the full context opposed to trying to twist the story. That was in relation to

1. Using pick 3 on him

2. playing him as an inside mid

This is about taking him at 8 and playing him forward opposed to using the pick on Kozzie. Suspicious this is just another Comrade Dazzle account.

Clearly we’ve stuffed it up again Osilik. You’re on the money. We don’t need 10 years to observe the career paths of both players to make a call on this one.

Sorry for asking the question mate, hail Mahoney and his decision making that can’t even get us in to the 8 after 10 years.

Context changes over time, big [censored] mate what’s your point?

End of the day, we will start to find out on Monday if we stuffed up another one. This thread will be on fire is Serong runs rings around us and Pickett only gets 4 touches

Taking Serong would be a disaster.

With pick 3

Wow, as thick as they come. Don’t seem to know the difference between Jackson and Kozzie...

“I can’t stress enough on the importance of drafting more inside mids with bad skills who are slow.”

Didn’t you make these comments after trade week, when we had already traded with Nth?  Did you think we should take a slow, inside mid with bad skills instead of Kossi?

Pickett will likely never average more than a handful of possessions, and never kick many goals. Does a flashy move every so often though. Skills seem very average. Not the kind of player you give up what we did for.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
