Melbourne Demons Masks?

Featured Replies

I don't know if this has been raised before. There is likely to be a need to wear masks for longer time beyond lockdown.

Does MFC have branded masks available?

It could be a good way to promote our brand and support.

I'm sure it's in the works, a lot of teams from other sports around the world have got this happening in their merch stores.

Uhm yeap but be very careful, the make money at any cost Yank teams are rolling out fashion face coverings..

"a fashion face covering not intended to be personal protective equipment...

..Justin Wolfers, an economist at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, told us the difference between the N95 masks used in hospitals and the football team masks is akin to the difference between real gems and costume jewelry."

Pretty much why I wouldn’t do this. I don’t want to be responsible for someone thinking they’re safe from COVID when I can’t verify the quality of them.

Fashion trumps safety Andy! My wife's gnarled feet attest to this life principle.

They are all somewhat effective. Obviously n95 and surgical masks are more effective.

I get that but I’m also generally wary of products coming out of China (unrelated to COVID). Purchased many things during lockdown that haven’t quite been up to the quality of the advertised product.

Somewhat is ok but I'd rather more effective.

A few comments / suggestions:

1. Is there anything which would stop you wearing a fully medical specked up mask underneath and then a cosmetic red and blue on top?

2.  I thought that at least part of the rationale of wearing masks was to protect other from COVID ' in case ' you might have it and that they did this by providing at least some physical disruption / diffuser effect to the flow of infected droplets from your breath, such that they don't travel as far away from you, similar to covering your noise with your elbo when sneezing?  Thus even something non medical grade is likely better than nothing;

3.  On similar basis to 2, it has been suggested that a scarf might be a reasonable makeshift substitute for a mask - I have plenty of MFC scarfs to wear in this way, without purchasing a whole new custom made red and blue mask.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

    One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
