What frustrates me about this "forward connection" is that the connection between mids/half forwards to forwards should be forward leads in to space, the mid hits the target.  If the ball hits the deck, smaller forwards get the crumbs.

It has been like that since footy was invented.  Richmond have won 2 premierships in the last 3 years by not overcomplicating things.

Maybe Bennell out, Brown in?  I'd live with that.

I would much rather a fit (nearing 90% game time) Bennell than Brown but beggars can't be choosers i guess

Maxy to smash then in the Ruck this week. Hopefully we can turn that into some scoring options

Last weekend our plans were thrown into disarray and we didn't play at all, while Geelong were embarrassed by the Blues on their home deck where they rarely lose.

This will be the most interesting game of the round.

Yes unreasonably obsessed with bringing it to ground. Let the forwards go for marks and make sure the smalls crumb. Pretty basic stuff.

"Pretty basic stuff" but only if you have one or more forwards who can actually take a mark, of course.

Intraclub don't forget.

Not injured, they're just still managing him up to full match fitness and see him as a long term player so not rushing it and 'managing expectations'. Nothing to worry about if he doesn't end up playing IMO.

One would think he would have sat out the inter club game last week to manage his game time rather than sit out a really important game vs Geelong this week.

Maybe, they might have already had a plan and wanted to stick to it. I'm not saying he's out this week, just reading into what Goody was saying about how they're managing him.

We should've kept Frost. End of story.

The reason we let him go is because he was going to play at Casey at the expense of May and Lever being in the side- was the accepted consensus. That's a poor reason as he's not far off May and every bit as good as Lever as an AFL footballer.

I'm surprised his shut down job on Ben Brown in round 23 last year didn't trigger the minds of the MFC brains trust that he should have been a priority signing.

He's been outstanding for Hawthorn in their 3 games. Probably because that mob has a far better coach and a far better list management.

No it wasn't.

The next bit about being "not far off May and every bit as good as Lever as an AFL footballer" is also not something I can agree with.

If Bennell is out due to "load management" one really has to wonder.

Then again nothing surprises me anymore with our selections.

In: Hannan, vandenBerg, Hibberd, Pickett, Lockhart
Out: Bennell (omitted)

Edit: the team's changes are from Round 2, not from the intraclub. So Jones is still in.

No Harley :(

I suppose he has pulled up sore

Hannan and vandenBerg are guaranteed starters in the 18. One takes Bennell's spot, there's at least one more to be dropped.

Could yet be Jones, on the extended bench.

Four players to come off that bench, my guess is Jones, Hibberd, Lockhart & ANB.
