People sooking that we should've got the 4 points or get to play a half strength bombers side are missing the big picture here.

Every club will be put out at some stage this year. 

Some clubs have already had to go in to hubs. Essendon and North did same day travel etc etc.

It easily could've been our boys getting the positive test. The club shouldn't be worrying about what they can't control and should turn up wherever and whenever and win games.

Covid is everywhere in the US and cases are increasing (despite far far lower levels of testing) so I don’t know how that claim that there has been very little transmission from the matches could possibly be made.

No it's not.

All four got it elsewhere. What is remarkable is that more than 2 weeks after the march there has not been a single case of community transmission from that protest. Despite all four of those people being contagious at that point.

That protest has been repeated in larger numbers 500 fold in rhe states, which have been going on for almost a month. And there has been no spike (In fact the opposite) in New york, Washington, LA, Seattle or indeed any big city that have seen protests.

As I have been saying the issue is indoor not outdoors. And indoors where people share that space for some time. Which us why this upswing in vic is all related to family transmission after the restrictions lifted and families and friends came together in big groups for lunches  dinners etc. And then not doing the right with social distancing and hygiene. 

Which is also why they won't allow people back onto offices any time soon.

i’ve been staggered by how affected  the lack of crowd has been fr me. I always thought i watched as a footy purist. But I realise now my enjoyment and engagement in a large way was feeling the crowd as a part of the game. Im trying but i def can’t engage or care like i used to. Watching footy atm  feels like talking to  an ex or something.

Me too Dazzle. We're only nine weeks or so away from what would ordinarily be the end of the regular home and away season when many players and fans alike would be ready to psychologically check out from the game before turning their attention to another year. All of a sudden the 2021 preseason doesn't seem so far off.

Ditto Wellsy. Our own games aside I've switched every other one off before half time and in many cases haven't even checked the score later.

Try 10 weeks back, after Rnd 1.

It became a circus then, and not footy.

Honestly,  we should not be sidetracked by this season,  and just use it to develop our young players, + Jonesy.

If a player in a team transgresses Covid19 rules to the point where a game cannot be played because of a positive test ,then It should be considered a breach by the club and the punishment should be that the scheduled game be forfeited and the 4 points be awarded to the opposition team.

Yes, and that lesson is for the AFL themselves to Learn,  and for the Pro footy players also,  to appreciate the fans more.

 

The fans,  the supporters Are the number 1 stakeholders of this,  Our game.

Fans are like Aaresholes, If they blockade things,  the game will be deep in shiitt.

 

Without the fans,  nothing happens but park footy.

The debacle are the stupid [censored] who knew they had the virus and still went to visit family. Those are the big clusters now that have spread across Melbourne. Apparently one family had a 100 person party with infected family members. Absolute f’ing stupidity. Should be named, shamed, and thrown in jail for 14 days.

I've lost count of the people (mostly young) who have said to me, it's just like another flu, I'll be ok. Yeah, you might be, you dodo, but others won't. ?

This is exactly why there has been the spike. Selfish people who o operate on the can't happen to me principle. Apparently some attended family events with symptoms. Spread it and went then went to work the next day.

So now restrictions won't be lifted ans all those restaraunts and hars getting ready to have 50 people in them and getting somewhere close to breaking even have to wait 3 more weeks. Not to mention kids lime my son who is climbing the walls waiting to play bball.

God I hate Essendon so much
