Interesting that no player has returned a positive result (does that mean they never had it as well).

I'm interested in the concept of random sampling and AFL players are a good random cross section of the young population

i think(?) it's a different test

Surely AFL will schedule the first 7 rounds split between

Suns, Lions, Crows, Power, Eagles, Dockers, Swans, Giants - play each other in Qld, NSW HUB

Remaining 10 Victorian teams stay in Vic.  Nil travel outside the state.  That gets the draw to round 8 after end of July with 9 rounds to play.  Review fixtures in 1st week of July for remainder of the year.

that sound far too sensible to happen

Crows and Port want to defer their "derby" until the end of the season just in case they are allowed to play in front of crowds in Adelaide. I expect the two WA clubs would argue for the same.

Gil should tell them where to go imo.

I wouldn't have thought so.

They are male (ie. less than half of young people) super fit, highly paid, have eating and behaviour patterns micro-managed for them, and are, on the whole, public figures.

This is the final straw. Covid-19 has gone too far.

Well, that’s it guys, I’m done with footy.

I wonder if the AFL will make Collingwood and Essendon head down to play Geelong at home with no crowds

Of course they are.

I also note that Essendon have got lucky, had a similar amount of post season injuries like us last year but they were given 2-3 months which has them all fit and ready to go again. We needed COVID last year!

so if queensland is not opening borders until september, how does that effect the six teams that will be based there?

Qld are already allowing NRL teams to criss cross borders so I would expect it to be no different for AFL teams.

Another interesting question is who will be required to travel to Sydney in the first four weeks?

I mean I get it, they’re trying to minimise things but really you’re playing a game where the players are tackling each other and getting into mails of groups when extracting the ball. Are they going to give everyone a disinfectant spray at each stoppage?

Social distancing on the bench seems OTT, but perhaps it’s more about sending the right message.

Probably not 'Pts'.    But maybe change out bubblegum,  for 'Fishermans Freinds',  instead.

Dude's an idiot. Hubs aren't the issue. It's border closure. Specifically the border he closed & keeps closed despite their comparatively low incidence of covid cases. FMD. We've actually had a bi-partisan "all hands on deck" approach to this pandemic. Then old mate farkface in the West decides to indulge in a cheap shot point scoring exercise.

Clearly he hasn't covered himself in glory here

He's not an idiot. His job is to play to his constituents and get re-elected. Bashing the Vic's is a clear vote winner.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
