AFLW: Rd 6 vs Carlton

Featured Replies

We're down two players, this could be a game changer. Harris scores from a set shot.

Dees 3.4.22
Blues 3.1.19

And just like that Blues are in front from a snap.

Dees 3.4.22
Blues 4.1.25

Hore shanks a dolly on goal, we've missed some great chances.

We've had two balls going in on goal only for ridiculous bounces to deny us.

Cunningham seems to have lost all ability. Shaping as another St.Kilda game as another chance wasted on the siren.

Cunningham has been woeful. So many perfect one on one chances.

And Newman should have given the ball off or kept running. Two goal turnaround

Bloody hell - the second I tune in: another knee injury, Bloos kick 2 goals to hit the front and we miss a soda.

3 quarter time.

Dees 3.4.23
Blues 4.1.25

Gee some easy misses that quarter, Newman, Cunningham and Hore and O’Dea’s bounced 180 degrees...it will be a miracle if we get up.

Carlton were very good that quarter and probably could have had more chances turned into goals, but equally we had some great chance that we absolutely shanked. Frustrating, I can see us losing this by under a kick and looking back on those chances feeling we should have won.

One quarter to go, down two players could be tough.

This is that game we always have at least once a year. More of it, more scoring shots, and we get done.

Blues get the all important first goal.

Dees 3.4.23
Blues 5.2.32

Smashed on the outside, wasteful once inside 50. O'Dea is a liability once they get it on the outside.

Game over i'd say.

Dees 3.6.24
Blues 6.2.38

Disappointing result, we were so clearly the better team at half time. Really should've been in front by 3 more goals but failed to make use of our dominance, our players were exhausted by the end being down two rotations and in the end when we had our chances we butchered them.

Puts us back to the pack and outside the finals spot, lots of work to be done.

That may be season over. Carlton one game ahead of us now, and we have Freo and Suns to come. They have Freo and WC.

Looks like we'll be dudded by the conference system again

Bum

Again our old nemesis our forward line conversion and skill

For the umpteenth time has enough chances but lack skill in finishing

Please Melb recruit footballers not other players from other codes that MAY be good sports but don't have the footballers instincts.

Desperately need a skilled forward who gets 6 touches and 3 goals

Cunningham lucky to be on team as no other big forward Give her a run around Th r ground yo get into the game please

Mivk Stinnear must surely be coaching fir his job in the last 2 games as he has had 4 years of non success to make finals

Injuries have not hrlped ageing today but same old story of lost chances.

Mickey at least 3 times per year every year fir 4 years in a row!! We are too dependent upon forwards marking as skill to kick goals on run us almost impossible for us !

Really looked slow and unfit. The injury toll is really hurting us.

Maybe that had something to do with 2  injured players off the ground in the last half  And about 4 ACL injuries this season !

A game of two halves (as they all are, but you know what I mean).  We ran out of players, and (consequently) legs in the second half. Four, and possibly five ACLs  in a season is just [censored] luck, no matter how you spell it !

Can't see how the conference system has done us. Injuries and lack of finishing would be more to the point.. We still had our chances to kick goals and stay in front but lack of composure and more likely skills let us down plus a certain tallish lady in forward line is having a shocker.

Cunningham wasn't the only one to have a shocker O'Dea was terrible too.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
