Just checked back on the replay: according to McDonald it was Petracca. Makes sense really as Salem is a wee bit more reserved while Petracca has a reputation for being a bit of a card!

Salem reserved, definitely not, he is just not a bloody nuisance to all the other players like Trac is, ANB is the other pest

I reckon our 22 is almost a lock (in red above), with only 2 of the 21 listed above "debatable in Spargo and OMac, both of which would suit us well out West. So the competition is really for 1-3 spots in our Round 1 22.

Good spot to be in.

Spargo had a really good game,

Agree. And I reckon ANB is also a lock for 22. Forward defensive pressure will feature large in 2020 I believe.

And all the more impressive for having missed most of the pre-season, at least the match play part of it.

Thanks DD. I am getting old but thought he mentioned Trac. In any case it does not matter who he refered to it was just good listening to Tom in commentary and I stand by that all the players seem to be really in a good space.

Just watched the fourth quarter.

TMac is so articulate.

It was sad watching Daw. He was so bad.

Pittard has one of the worst haircuts I've ever seen.

Found it interesting that T Mac said they most wanted the ball in the hands of Fritta or Spargo when going inside 50.

Spargo could be a dark horse to recement his spot in the 22 this year.

His comments bout his brother were also interesting i thought, which in summary were:

  • Has bulked up, putting on 4-5 kgs of muscle
  • Much stronger through the hips and core
  • Has had a great preseason
  • His (important) role is playing the deep last line
  • If you are watching on TV or if live not watching him closely, easy to miss his positioning not grasp his role
  • Would like to see him be more offensively minded

Mate, if Oscar ever becomes an elite defender, your bragging rights will be off the charts. Feels like you’ve been his sole defender on here at times.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
