Good Lord

Does that say it all,  does it.  no answers,  just condescending attitudes to others.

How does your lord think,  of people like you,  who think so highly of yourselves,  and thinking you look down on others.

I would have anticipated your lord would be the only one looking down over others,  and the only one making judgements, on us all.?

I think your making a poor example of yourself,  in front of any god,  or others.

I've realised now one of the really valuable aspects of an internet forum founded on the basis of mutual random support for a football team is that it exposes one to the world outside of their normal social circles and media echo chambers. Scary stuff.

Yeah, the open border loving Democrats would be a much better option in a pandemic.  Jesus christ.

You should be kissing the ground knowing Trump is in charge.

It took you two weeks to get to my comment... have you checked the figures since my original comment at which time I think there were less than 100 cases?  The US as of today, has 4,657 recorded cases and in just the past day recorded 977 new cases.  This has nothing to do with the Democrats; Trump is the current POTUS and he has been failing miserably.

My comments were made at a time when he was signalling that people should just go about their business as usual (including going to work), and telling us how he had it all under control, despite the warnings from health experts.

You're so rusted on to right wing politics that you cannot see what is patently obvious; he has failed and is now scrambling to do something meaningful.  Kiss the ground knowing Trump is in charge??? Hah! Kiss my [censored]!

Care to share the plan you have to stop the virus and keep the economy afloat and enable people to earn a living and support themselves?

I'm sure the Word leaders are waiting for your advice, for that matter the advice of all those on here that have cut and pasted the words of journalists telling us how we should go about it.

As was said earlier there are plenty on here that want to turn this in to a right wing bashing competition. What has Elbows plan been, i must have missed it in amongst all the garbage in the papers.

Who is Elbow and what has he got to do with the situation in the US and Trump's ham-fisted attempts to manage it?

Tell us all what you would do if you were in charge?

I await your words of wisdom.

I don't understand your line of argument here, Dante.  Are you sticking up for Trump or just playing "whataboutism"?  And what the heck does an Australian politician have to do with USA's situation?

I'll meet you halfway and tell you what I wouldn't do, but what Trump and his administration have done:

1.  I wouldn't claim the whole thing was a hoax and a conspiracy by my political opponents and/or China.

2.  I wouldn't claim that fewer than five people would be infected.

3.  I wouldn't claim that the virus is just the same as the flu.

4.  I wouldn't claim that anybody who needed a test could get one.

5.  I wouldn't claim that we were very close to a vaccine.

6.  I wouldn't claim the virus will go away once the hot weather arrives.

7.  I wouldn't claim that risk to citizens is low.

8.  I wouldn't claim that the virus will miraculously disappear one day.

Now, I don't claim to have the solution to this problem but telling lies, being wrong about the facts and not acting a lot sooner surely doesn't help.   Thinking that Trump is unfit for the presidency doesn't automatically make you a "leftie", either.

There's a lot of wouldn'ts there but not too many woulds.  What about what you would do to fix the problem. I see, none.

I think that the hatred of Trump is a requirement of the left.

My comment was about the overall discussion that includes Morrison as well. Morrison takes advice from the Chief Medical officer, not Karl Stepanovic and the other buffoons on morning television.

BTW, do you think "creepy" Joe Biden would make a better President than Trump? If you don't know what I mean, look that up.

I just told you I don't pretend to have the answers.

What I was doing was addressing your apparent blind faith in Trump and pointing out how he has failed miserably on this issue.

As for bringing up Morrison and Biden,  again you're trying to move the goalposts.  I haven't and don't care to comment on either of those two individuals as they are irrelevant to the topic, which is how Trump had mishandled the virus pandemic.

I've made my position as clear as I can and have nothing further to add.  I hope that you and all other Demonlanders get through this crisis in one piece.  All the best to you and yours but it's over and out from me.

Your response has nothing to do with my post...it seems to be just an opportunistic attempt to bash what you perceive as a left wing attack. It was an attack on poor leadership and relates to their position in the US two weeks ago.  I think Demonstone has given a pretty good summary of where the POTUS has gone wrong. Hopefully he has since learned to take the whole thing a bit more seriously.

Albo not being PM is not responsible for how we approach this issue in Australia, so enough of your red herrings please.

It’s rather ironic that you claim this is just a right wing bashing exercise, when all your post does is blindly attack the left.

All these posts show why any political or religious posts should be banned from this site.

It’s pretty hard to avoid politics when the sporting bans etc are to some degree, politically driven. They are a part of the move to slow down the spread of the virus, and the discussion of issues relating to possible failures in addressing said spread should be expected.

Doesn't need to contain swipes at any political party or individuals, no-one on here knows how the alternate governments or individuals would handle the problem.

It's impossible to avoid politics on this site.

Leftism is a mental disorder imo and unfortunately we have a disparate population of that demographic on this site. Leftists simply cannot avoid the temptation to share their leftism with others, regardless of how inappropriate it might be. It is ALWAYS a lefty who finds a way to inject politics into a thread.

My response was to your post but could have been to many before, I picked yours because it was closest to the end of the thread.

I have no love for Don and couldn't give a rat's about him or the USA, I probably should have responded to one of the digs at Morrison, I'm a bit over all the armchair experts blaming him for the way it's been handled. I dare say that none of those that have had a shot at him, wouldn't have done so if it was the Labor party in charge and Elbow making the very same decisions.

Well, going on your logic, most Demonlanders must be right leaning, based on the similar victim mentality they display in the belief that the MFC is hated by the AFL and umpires ?

Assume it is a start... Might stop people losing their minds if 1.5 weeks in it's announced it'll be another 1.5 or 2 weeks rather than scaring people with a month straight up

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
