Lets face it JT was not giving anything away and why make the other recuiters job easy by ruling out a player maybe his stratergy is to make other recuiters take Jackson so Kemp is there at 8.

Dodoro or Mahoney, I''ll stick with our bloke.

it was never going to get Dodoro – a man some clubs simply refuse to engage with in Trade Period – to the negotiating table.

Funny thing is, he'd rate himself a 10/10 for doing his job effectively. A more pompous Peter Bell.

He even puts FIGJAM to shame.

Yeah shouldn’t have picked Gawn, what a terrible pick that has turned out to be.

No it was good but he was pick 38 not a top 10 pick, the tall ruckman are given more time to develop. Midfielders don't get that time.

There must be issues at Bombers as they appointed Daniher, Fantasia and Myers to leadership group,  dropping Hurley and Hooker. Apparently players on list were upset. Daniher and Fantasia wanted to leave at end of season and Myers asked to play second half of season in the VFL and then retired.

Hope unrest is continuing.

It’s well worthwhile listening to the whole interview with Jason Taylor.

He won’t be giving anything away so you have to read between the lines.

It was interesting  that when Kemp was mentioned, it appeared to me that he was unconvinced about him..

I think Robertson may be the target

Take Young at 3 having put it out there you're keen on Young and Jackson. Also mention Kemp with Robertson

Freo would love Robertson and Jackson and may gamble on taking Jackson with 7 and us taking Kemp

This is exactly it. Float the possibility of us taking Jackson at 3, that way if he’s still on the board at 8 we look certain to select him. Freo will panic and select him at 7. Job done.

Jeepers. Would we want Robertson, PSD? He sounds solid, but not what you'd want for a top 10 pick.

Not really sure AF, I like Kemp very much especially at pick 8 and don't even mind Stephens.

We have a lot of talent but really lack that leadership and have done for a while since Neiter.

Viney has shown it on field in the first 2 finals of 2018, but he's just got to focus on getting his body right.

I look at Selwood and Hodge as culture changers and absolute leaders, Robertson is that type of leader

The blurb below is stolen from the AFL Draft Central A.F. Deven won best player of the U18 champs, picked in the centre of the All Aus team and made captain of it. That’s pretty solid!

DEVEN ROBERTSON – WESTERN AUSTRALIA (CAPTAIN)

The Western Australia captain finished with a swagger of awards including state MVP, Larke Medal and All Australian jumper and the captaincy to boot. The ball winning midfielder not only had an impressive carnival, but he dominated, picking up the most ever disposals – 120 – which was two more than Sam Walsh last year. He also amassed an average of 4.3 marks, 6.8 tackles, 4.8 clearances, 4.0 inside 50s and 3.5 rebounds in a well-rounded game overall.

Thanks mate. I wonder if he was a Victorian whether there'd be a lot more hype around him.

It's really a problem this Victorian bubble. It means WA teams can hide their top talent.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
