Demon fans were jubilant when he rejected an offer to play for the Swans last year. The bad news was that a foot injury kept him out of football for the entire season. Has averaged only 7 games a season in his five years at the club so is due for a change of luck.

A 27 year old fringe utility player with 7 games in three years.

The decision to give him a three year contract on the back of a decent month of football was extraordinary and symptomatic of why we've played 1 final series in 13 years.

If he is not in full training (including kicking 50 metres) in a month's time we should be looking to pay him out and free up a list space.

Comfortably top 22 when fit imo and takes the place of ANB Baker and a few others. Comfortably. Agree he has this season to get it right before moving him on. A month is an exaggeration.

He is our modern day Tingay: Talented and impactful enough on the team that you give him that extra time, just can't get his body right.

At 27, statistically he is only just moving into his peak both from a skill and physical perspective for an AFL footballer.

Agree 3 years was overkill but he definitely deserved a contract extension after his end to 2018.

Was hoping to see a negotiated retirement on medical grounds but not so. Probably the same for KK.

Anyway let's see what 2020 brings for them both but surely if they don't get on the park that's it.

Good on AVB for getting a deal done as hes had some horrid luck. He has a bit of X factor & offers physicality as well as footy smarts.

Lucky to secure the contract but lots of upside if they can get him right.

Good luck.

Can't kick. Can't kick when he plays, but most definitely can't kick when he doesn't play.
Can tackle. Can't tackle when he doesn't play though.

How can I be a fan when he doesn't play for Melbourne?

At what point in the next month or so do we hear if he and KK are ready to go?

my wife asked what I was smiling about and that felt good as well.

Can scare hell out of the opposition. A vital player when fully fit. Love you Vanders.

He was in my opinion the major change that got us into a preliminary final in 2018 Tough and skillful. The type of player that makes the opposition wonder where he is.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
