Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

First two goals of the final quarter to the Crows. Burton's back on and I want to thank 5aa for not having an internet streaming agreement with the AFL.

Yup, they sure did us a favour

God bless the AFL and 5AA

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Practice match. Don't give a crap about scores. Really. Doomsayers, shut the firetruck up and chill out. Neither team is playing their best side and neither team gives a crap whether they win or lose. We're trying out some newbies and some new tactics. Even round 1 is not much indication of how a team will go ths year. I may be mistaken, but the Swans started slowly last year too, as did Freo...

As did Melbourne with three consecutive losses to start the 2006 season and yet, we were in with a big chance of making the top 4 late in the season.

Garland just scored his first point in AFL football!

Melbourne 5.7.37

Adelaide 11.16.82

Point well made Pringle. Too much excitable teenage testosterone on display this arvo. Come Rnd 1 I still expect us to pants the Aints.

While not too concerned about the result, i bloody hope this handball happy game plan is scrapped!!! Need to get back to the early 2005 style of long direct football with hard running where we were all the rage... running in numbers from the backline with handballs but not too many,, remember when we beat geelong on a friday night i think it was round 2, 2005.... thats the type of footy we have to play

Exactly!!!!

And btw, tell em she missed a sensational Frankston evening last night.

I predict a very good season this year. Our midfield is the strongest it has ever been in my memory. And I'm not talking most talented alone, as we have had some very talented midfielders in the past. I'm talking strong, tough, hard ballwinners/ball magnets. If N. jones plays like he did against the Hawks last week plus the addition of Brock and 'new recruit' Brent Moloney (didn't play at all last yr),the reliable JMac, the class of Cameron the Bruce and Travis, and posibly even cameos from blokes like Davey, Pickett, Sylvia etc. I think we're in a pretty strong position. Only concern I still have is CHF, but I think Miller will come good and should play there this year.

Go dees... in a month or so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Full Time:

Melbourne 3.1.19 3.2.20 5.4.34 6.8.44

Adelaide 0.2.2 3.11.29 9.15.69 14.16.100

Goals: Bate Bruce Davey Green Jamar Miller

Just looking on the bright side, this is a far more impressive performance than our last against Adelaide in Round 22 when we had our A team in against their B team and they pantsed us. Today we have our B team in and their A team is pantsing us just as badly.

On that basis, the next time we play them, they should be quaking in their boots.

Haha, this is gold!

We are losing a practice match? Oh no, I think I might rip up my membership and go skiing.

I care about one thing, and one thing only, that everyone comes out of the game injury-free. If Moloney got through the match and doesn't pull up sore, than already we've won.

Will anyone remember this game in September?

how many games do we play in SA this year?

Rd 17- Port Adelaide.

Not a bad draw that.... Then again, according to half the posts in this thread, by Round 17 we'll be hot favourites for the spoon, so it won't even matter ;)

Yeah I'm happy about that, we play the weaker team once in SA once and the stronger team at the G, sounds good to me considering how crap the crows are at the G...

Rivers?

Still, that's our two main forwards, our FB and the 2 best midfielders we've got.

If anyone is actually worried about the results, they need a quick reality check. These matches are played purely for the purpose of fitness and experimentation.

I'm certainly not condoning the doomsayers in this thread. However, there should be a little cause for concern as well. You can harp on all you like about how practice matches are for blooding the youngsters and trying new tactics, but I'd actually like to see the team practice the single most important thing that there is in football...

...WINNING...

Sure it may seem like a strange idea, but when you look back at the great teams of any era, the one thing they have in common is a culture of success. They get themselves into a position where they've almost forgotten how to lose, the players are programmed to win and don't know any other way.

It would seem to me very difficult as an AFL team to go through the pre-season at half pace, and then be able to turn it on come Round 1 proper.

Hear hear! The fact is they've won 2 of the last 9. It's becoming a bit too routine for mine.

we shouldn't worry about this match because we blooded a young team and are preparing for round 1. As for our game plan with our handball frenzy, we need to find some way to play on those bigger grounds or else we will lose by the same margin or it could be even worser. Though i have to admit we are overusing the handball, we should learn from the teams that can actually pull it off and follow by there example.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
