Jordan Lewis - Assistant coach?

Read the thread title. I assumed your retort was based around thinking Lewis could coach.

If it was just to imply I should be nicer because a Hawthorn player won a bunch of flags I really don't care.

I'm only biased on who can and can't help us.

Read the thread title? Mate, you wrote a whole big post just to take cheap shots at the guy. Don't know why people do that so much here, it's embarrassing.

Just have a look at who carried him off after the North game and it will give you some clues...

I didn’t see, who did chaired him off?

He has already said he will focus on his media commitments and not coaching.

Thought I read somewhere he also has a wine business???

I’m taking his press conferences and interviews at face value - it seems to me that he has genuine affection for the club, and that he’s really enjoyed this phase of his career, though especially his first two years at the MFC.

Lewis has class. I really enjoyed what he brought to this club - and it seems his older boy seems to love the Dees too.

I expect that a career in the media (which is clearly open to him) will ultimately be far more lucrative for him, and that he’s more stimulated by it. But that’s not to say he doesn’t like the MFC, and the MFC and the players don’t respect him or his massive contribution to the club.

I'm still taking advice now and i'm 70 plus....never too zzzzz

Yeah he does.

Classic D'land.  Retiring great hints to his post playing pursuits ie;  love of media and pursuing his passion for wine making, then someone starts a thread titled 'Assistant Coach?'.

Lewis will seemingly head to media. Probably more lucrative and less time consuming than starting out as an assistant coach. Quite like his media work, more incisive than most retired players turned commentators. The rug is a tad distracting.

I wish I could afford a rug :)

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
