So apparently we knocked back the offer of pick 6 and GWS 2020 1st rounder.

according to whom? we don't leak, so unless mahoney explicitly stated it it's mere conjecture from people looking to fill content and airtime

Would you do pick 26 (North) & future 1st (GWS), for 3?

My bad, pick 6 was obviously meant to be coming our way too, in this scenario

According to Sam Mclure.... I know he isn't the most reliable.

I assume the Giants may have mentioned it, who knows.

I think we'd want more than that, if they finish well, that pick could be early 20's

Problem is GWS's next pick after 6 is 40

I'd say we are after a player, even with such a small amount of time to go.

Possibly Finlayson

Looks like Bonar will be getting traded today. What if they throw that pick in as well? Not sure what else GWS have to offer, in terms of picks.

Apparently now paper work can be lodged before 3pm (due to tv coverage).

Then why would we use 6 against them, which is what he suggested?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see anywhere that he suggested doing that?

Yep, if North give one of their second rounders 26 or 27 for Bonar, then it could be:

Pick 3 for 6, Pick 27 2019, GWS future first round pick

Id take 6 and Tarranto

get it done!!  haha

That would be a robbery. GWS wouldnt even consider it. They need the pick they get back for Bonar to use points to land Green. I’m of the mind that GWS 1st round next year will be worth diddly-squat in next years draft. We should be looking at wrenching out pick 6 and a player for 3

I think the Bombers have picks 30 and 33 from this year too. I think they are the favourites atm

Oh I totally agree, thing is we can play hard ball, we're not here to do GWS any favours.

If we want Green we'll bid for him. If GWS want that out of the equation, pay up!

looking through GWS's list:  maybe Perryman?  Small backman with excellent kicking. only 21 and injured last year

id do 6, 2020 1st rounded and Perryman for 3

I think GWS would take that deal

I agree.

They already have a midfield that consists of Taranto, Ward, Coniglio, Kelly,  Hopper, Whitfield, Williams & Toby Greene.

They've also got Caldwell, Hateley & O'Halloran also tryin to get into the side and they would also be adding pick 3 plus Green this year.

Caldwell is the one I want.

6 & Caldwell for 3. Take it or leave it.

If we have knocked back that offer from the Giants, then I think that's a sensible move from the club.  It's not a great offer really and we have time on our side - we either get a better deal or take two ripping picks to the draft.  That's a win/win in my book.

Giving 6, 27 and next years which will be between 14-18 all for moving 3 spots up in the draft. Turn it up!!

No too risky.  And we don't need another insideish mid.  Unkown quantity at senior level also.  Pass.

If we are chasing a player from them it needs to happen in the next few hours.

Not sure what else we are chasing from them. Even their second rd 2020 is worth next to bugger all.

Of course, but we may not be.  We may have already seen what they have to offer and decided it's better for us to just take those first two picks to the draft.

I think you meant "can't" Stigga.

If they get 3 off us, they get 2 top 5 picks

If we're looking at a player, I'd say it'll come from the list of those younger guys coming out of contract at the end of next year, with Whitfield, Williams and Cameron taking big $ next year they might might have to offload someone like - Caldwell, Hately, O'Halloran, Perryman, Zac Langdon or Cumming, as they won't be able to keep them anyway. From that list the last 3 are all on more than rookie contracts so they'd be the most likely to move now to free up some cap, moving any of this years draftees won't help at all this year because there already on minimum payments. It's why they are trying to move on Bonar, he's contracted beyond his rookie contract but stuck behind a few.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
