Also i think we rate the ruckman Jackson and can get him in the top 10 as well as 2 other mids.

yeah it's ok. do we have 2 2nds for 2020 now? if so can trade either one and still satisfy rules for no 1st

Cool. Yeah I can't remember us trading out our 2nd from next year, so i guess we can trade a 2nd for 2020

We traded ours out and kept Hawthorn’s second rounder for next year.

ok, so we can't trade our 2020 2nd unless we can trade another 2nd in (this year or next year before nd)

3 top ten picks would be a massive win, hope your right

As much as I would like this to happen, I will believe this when I hear it from a second source, other than one Demonland member

I don’t. If we play our cards right we have picks 3 & 7 (GWS burn theirs on Green) currently. If we do the deal 7, 8 & 10 get pushed back by GWS/ Freo having live picks in addition to their academy picks

It would only push it back by 1 though? With GWS taking a pick before Greene and then Greene getting matched it would make our picks 8,9 and 11.

Getting 2 picks in the top 10 is exactly what mahoney and co. wanted with this evenness of the draft, And we get 3 top 10 picks for this year which would be a huge boost for our young talent stocks. would be a win, win, win IMO

Plus you would think that Green would be bid on before 6, so we shouldn’t loose one place in the draft order, in that scenario anyway

I doubt GWS stay at 6 if we trade 3. I think GWS and potentially Freo get a bonus pick through this trade (Someone could bid on Henry before pick 7 which could burn Freo’s first pick).

Is there any guaranteed way of getting banned from this site until November 27?

I can’t take another 6 weeks of this discussion.

@olisik can you offer me any advice?

Only need to have an opinion to get banned these days so shouldn’t be an issue. I got a warning point for calling Stretch and JKH champs. Go figure.

Haha It’s the way you type it mate!

With Gold Coast today saying they’d be interested in swapping 15 and 20 for a 3rd top 10 pick, I wonder, if we really are planning on reaching for Weightman at 8, if we’d consider trading it for 15 and 20 ? and hope to still get Weightman at 15 and then getting a bonus pick with 20 ?

Nope, prefer to keep 3 & 8 and use on Young and Kemp/Ash

Absolutely not, we cant trade out a top 10 pick for 15 and 20.  we need to retain 2 top 10 picks at a minimum IMO.

If you can get the same player at 15 that you were going to take at 8 it would make sense tho?

I would rather keep 3 & 8 as well tho but just found it interesting that GC are looking to swap those pics.

We can live trade. so why don't we wait till the night, then when pick 7 goes and we see if the player we wanted at 8 is there. If he is then we don't swap, if he isn't then we consider the swap. But really it's not worth it relative to what we gave up to North to then swap with Gold coast. I.e. say we finish outside the 8 and get pick 9 next year. We traded 9, 26 and 50 for 8. To then give up 8 for 15 and 20 means we gave up 9, 26 and 50 for 15 and 20 ? (and if we actually finish worse it's an awful trade lol).

Nup, one expected to go top 6 may slide and be available at 8. Take the best available

How about 8 for 10 and 22 from Freo with a promise to bid Green at 3 which takes out GWS pick 6.

Freo then have 7 and 8 and only have to worry about Adelaide and Sydney bidding on Henry - pretty safe I think.

Gives us 3, 10 and 22 - means we basically got Langdon for free.

Don't mind it but I want Kemp. So whatever we get in there that gets us him, would work for me.

I heard not long ago that pick 3 will head west to Freo, leaving us with 7,8 & 10. 3 picks inside the top 10.

Cue.. who's your source and all that, but thats from someone who would have a good idea.

At the time of this post, I didn't think that this was going to happen. But the more I've thought about it, the more it makes sense, and I now think that realistically, it may occur. Fingers crossed.

But Henry is regarded as a mid teen selection. Would Freo do the trade based on speculation that someone would use a much higher pick on him than expected?

Don't bring common sense into it, we have some on here who wanted us using pick 2 on himz before the Priority pick was allocated

Only Peter Bell knows.

How's Nancy?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
