"this joint" . . . as in the MFC?

Nowhere near as bad as Linton Street I would have thought.

That's a debatable subject.

Poisoned chalice this joint.

Like the nose beer, rapey thing they've got happening in Seaford/Moorabin is good for his career.

Ex Melbourne footballers who want a viable successful career in football after they retire go elsewhere like to Hawthorn. Ex other club footballers who want a viable career in football also go elsewhere. Unless there is an overs pot of gold on offer to offset what would likely be a truncated career.

Nothing stopping you from going somewhere else

I never said he should go to the saints.
It's a strange decision.
Both clubs are basket cases.

I would have thought 12 flags and 12 wooden spoons compares favourable against 1 flag and 27 wooden spoons.

They've won a flag more recently than MFC. And played in GFs more recently than us ... came very close to winning one too. Unlike MFC's 2 grand final debacles.

Pfft .... Ancient history those flags.
I'd argue they don't count since we went from VFL to AFL.

He's not coming so let's move on...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So whats the latest with Roughy, have Goody, Lewey, Toddy and Mahoney met with him and made an offer?

Some muppet on the interweb suggested he might go to the Saints. Last time I checked you don't need 4 x premierships to light dwarfs on fire, bed underage school girls and lose a Grand Final in October.

Roughy is champ - no doubt about

He’s also been through some tough personal [censored]. So apart from knowing a bit about footy he also knows a bit about resilience

Bonus.  He seems to be a decent bloke

Yep.  I’d have him as a forward line coach in a flash!

Yep from me too as above.

Saw a VFL game where he gave some coaching to one of his opponents which seemed to

improve their performance. This was mentioned by commentators.

Oh well. Makes my previous pretty redundant.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
