Like I would have given Pedo one more.  or even a rookie spot.

No guarantees on jSmith's or TMc's health.  We need a good reserve.  Especially as we see a potential finals joust,  in our near future.

Lockhart needs a few weeks in the AFL team to see if he can build on his game at the top level. I'm not huge on gifting games but he is a player I would like tested out more at the top level. He has a look of someone who takes the game on and change the momentum of a game.

Hore is a find. Essentially a ready made replacement for any of our back six who are no longer up to it. Pick 56 well spent, should be a 150 game player for us.

Sparrow looked promising from what I had seen before he hurt his knee. He is 2 months away from playing footy again so we will need to wait until next year to see what we have with Sparrow.

Baker has a look of a player who could be damaging. Bit of Issac Smith about him. He is the player we desperately need and could take another stride or two before the season ends.

Keilty is a guy I can't figure out. His good vfl games are eye catching, but when he is bad he is bad. The next 10-12 weeks are vital for him. He will get his opportunity to play if his form is there. If he doesn't force his way back into the side it could be curtains for him at the Dees.

Baker really struggled with the pressure on Monday (who didn’t to be fair). But he definitely looks a player and that would have been an invaluable lesson.

Lockhart is one who I think should play the rest of the year. He was playing good footy when in the ones, and was very good in the VFL on Sunday. I am a fan.

No way I would let Keilty go...   he's a keeper for mine, for at least another two seasons,  to help him deevelop. 

I think he has a natural mind for the AFL.   Maybe just needs a bit more time, for  'growth'...  & believe he belongs at the level.  he's young, well, just turned 24Yrs. so a depth thing.

 

...  so with this,  I would look to keep Keilty for 2 rookie seasons... and tSmith for one further season. maybe put Keilty on the senior list for 1Yr...  and relist tSmith as rookie.

However we can do it,  to maintain the depth.   Unless there are other mature tall-forwards out there, ready to go,  and ready for recruiting.

I'd be a fan of sending Fritta back to Casey,  to loosen-u... and enjoy his game again...  to free him up,  in mind somewhat.

He looks burdened,  and a bit stale,  tired.

 

This would help us to get more games into Lockhart,  and others,  on rotational clusters of games.  Just for the kids who need more exposure to the big league...  to help them adjust.

IMO,  our biggest weakness is the depth of maturity...   So many young players,  who haven't yet bridged the devide, between VFL and AFL.  they need games of exposure to get there.

 

Rest our walking wounded,  and expose some lazy others, to the hard work they avoid.  Make them put up.  Via they're own responsibilities...  without injured stars to hide behind.

Pull Viney and TMc out... Hannan because of his chronic knees,... so save his knees with less workload.

Put Petracca into the centre.  run him hard. resting on the bench.

Play Preuss, and run him hard as well.    and send Preuss over to the States again,  end of September...  and again, December/January... fast track him.

 

Get Fritta, Hunt, ANB, Keilty, Stretch, Spargo, Sparrow, Bedford, Chandler, Jordan, Dunkley, & Nietschke,  into the Gym full time,  from late August.  Into the weights,  and Boxing.

Not knocking him, he's been great.

...but one of the main reasons he didn't get drafted earlier is a lack of pace.

It's one of the things his former coach, Jarred Rivers pointed to in a recent interview.

His strength is as a natural footballer who reads the game well (counters in part for foot speed) & his intercept marking.

He will be a constant fixture in our team going forward but not as Nev's replacement.

We need to look elsewhere for that.

Hore - outstanding pick up, he is a mini Lever. Easily slots into the back 6 in our best 18. One positive of injuries to our backman is the opportunity it has given him.

Baker - Think he has what it takes, adds some pace to our midfield & his skills are up to it. Hopefully by seasons end he has taken his game up a notch.

Sparrow -  Haven't seen enough of him to judge. Seemed okay round 1.

Keilty - Just a good VFL player, not up to it. 

Lockhart - whilst he has played a couple of good games I'm not entirely sold on him to be honest. Jury is still out for mine, I just don't see him as a player who gets a game if we to be a top side, may be a stop gap for a bit.

Hore - Absolute gem. Reminds me of Matty Whelan, different types of course but similar in the way both looked comfortable from the get go. I believe he can go up to another level too.

Baker - I might have gone a bit early not giving Oskar much of a chance from his VFL games , but injuries presented an opportunity and I think he’s done well so far. One of the rare players on our team at the moment that just tucks the ball under the arm and wants to go. Liking his instinct at AFL level.

Lockhart - Has shown enough cameos to persist with. He has a good leap for his size and isn’t scared to take the big boys on. Good goal sense too. I’m just unsure if he and Spargo both fit in the team.

Sparrow - Solid debut in Round 1, wasn’t scared to throw his solid body in the contest. Looked good to me in traffic during the scratch match against Pies with his limited game time. I think he will develop into a good player for us.

Keilty - Unfortunately didn’t show much in his two games. The fact that Tim Smith is included in the team after missing a week or two makes me think Keilty is well down in the pecking order.

to be fair Nev has never been that quick either. and age and injuries likely mean he will only slow down from here on also.

but I also think we need a quicker and smaller defender in the mix down back. Hores not really a genuine option on those sorts with speed/agility and ground ball ability. Lockhart has played as a defender in the VFL, I think that is actually where he plays his best footy and would like to see the coaches further trial him as a small defender for the remainder of the year in the ones.

That's part my point and also that we need to look at a long term replacement for Nev...

I think Sparrow is also an option and would like to see him trialed there....

Can’t see how Hore replaces Neville.

He might take intercept marks but he hasn’t locked anyone down yet, and is suspect one-on-one.

Hore has good points, but don’t let that distract from the reality that he has deficiencies.

It’s something Collingwood exploited last week with obvious inside knowledge of his strengths and weaknesses.

Sparrow looks meh . Baker hore and Lockhart have potential
