Potentially. Depends if we've also got in his ear and whether GCS are looking at anyone else with that first pick.

Jetta -- May -- Lever

Hibberd -- Keath -- Salem/Jones

That's a solid set up. Petty can play swing too.

If he wants the cash only, this might be the reason we let go of Frost ladies and gentlemen.

Hopefully the Martin deal will fall through (unlikely though). But hey who knows in this crazy world of ours.

I thought players could nominate for the National draft now and attach contract length and $ terms as well. Luke Ball the obvious example. Otherwise we could be eagerly awaiting either Keith or Martin to fall to us, and either would be nice to have on the list, but I don't think the PSD has much use anymore.

This is very true (and I'm still filthy the club didn't draft Ball), but Nick Stevens is a prime example of a player who the two clubs couldn't satisfy a deal (Port holding firm against the Pies) and he was picked up by the Blues.

I do remember that, but my understanding is the PSD was Stevens only option back then when a trade deal wasn't reached. The AFL have since changed the rules and allow uncontracted players to nominate for the National Draft. Keath and Martin, without coming to terms for a trade, can put a price on their head and try their luck in the National Draft, most likely making it through to their club of choice. Pretty sure it has only happened once with Ball though so I could be wrong about how it all works.

Interesting, I wonder if this was another deal with the players in the CBA. Seems very lopsided on favouring the player on his desires when the club that is losing the player should have the bargaining chips to ensure they get fair compensation.

Yes, but Ball went to Pies in the draft. We are talking about Keith going to the preseason draft. Would've thought the Dogs would do the honourable thing and trade for him.

Indeed, but if Keith is still keen to go to the dogs would he not just nominate for the National Draft and attach contract terms to himself. That would be his best bet of getting past teams and slipping through to them.  If he opts for the PSD he probably isn't getting there as us or GC will probably take him.

True, but his terms could be met by a number of clubs in the national draft. Bit of a gamble really.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
