Walker is and always has been an average footballer. I’d be more worried about Tom Lynch he is a gun!

Always reminds me of this bloke... 'greatest brain on the field, great captain etc etc yadda yadda'.

How many games has Petty played? Three? Yet you dills give up on him. What did Tom McD look like after 3?

its the same really with Kielty. Has hardly played. You give guys like this a decent go before you write them off. Don't  You?

I specifically said I haven't given up on him. He's still a kid. Of course he might get there eventually, but right now I think he doesn't look ready.

J Wagner and Fritsch are decent AFL players. Fritsch is a genuine forward having to play back because of injuries

Fritsch may be when played in the right spot, J Wagner not even close - his decision making time is way too long for an AFL footballer.

Spot on Onion, they are similar in many ways...power forwards that could dominate but don't. I hope those words don't come back to bite us on Saturday.

I think the Weid will play this week after kicking 3 goals against a handy Willo side. Hibberd looks a good thing after training with the squad as is Salem and JFK. Some very handy boys to come in and make us stronger.

Ins. HIBBERD, WEID, SALEM  and JFK.

OUTS. C Wagner TSmith  Spargo  -  Petty inj or Hore maybe injured as well.

Good ins if that's the case. JFK is a small upgrade over Stretch, C Wagner, Lockhart and Spargo.

I'd probably keep Stretch only because he had a good game in Darwin last year. Happy for the other 3 to go to Casey.

Rumour on Adelaide Bigfooty board that Matt Crouch didn't get selected, which if true, is a win for us.

Is Marty playing?

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
