I stopped going to Hawks games a couple of years ago because of their supporters in the standing room up the Punt Rd end. I tend to go to Casey games these days as I can find a quiet place around Casey Fields to watch the game free of this kind of [censored] that goes on at footy games. 

As a non drinker, I find the drunken aggression at the football literally insane that people make themselves and others so miserable over a game.

Yes he did but we don't know if that's true. What we do know is his brother can be heard saying to the Dees supporter "Stop, stop he's disabled". If you take a look at the 7News clip and compare it with the clips of the "victim" in his normal behavior, something doesn't quite gell. Don't get me wrong I'm in no way condoning the actions of the Dees supporter however I think you are behaving a bit like the Media ie shoot first and ask questions later. I don't know if you bothered reading all the previous posts but I doubt it. If you had you may have picked up a hint or two from other posters about previous form on the part of the "victim". If you want to do some further checking a few of the D supporter facebook pages have some instructive comments from a number of women and families who have had to move away from where the "victim" sits due to the aggressive and obscene language used.

I completely agree mate BUT having just watched the video for the first time, does he actually punch him? It seems to me like he throws him / pushes him to the side. 

Unacceptable to lay your hands on another person, however, I'd also say it's unacceptable to throw beer on someone.

Having said all that, it's a banable offence IMO, because you don't touch another person at the football. And it's more than just a push and shove.

Unfortunately, as I have said elsewhere on here, the security guards seem to disappear later in the game. I assume they go down to the ground to protect the umpires and players, coaches. The problem is, late in the game or after the game is where the most trouble may start, because everyone is full of drink by then. This is an area where cost cutting should not apply. More security should be available to ensure a visible presence to deter bad behaviour in the first place.

Right or wrong, (not that I'm a drinker) but if I had my drink aggressively slapped out've my hand and over me I'd probably lose my composure for a couple seconds like Baxter Jonesy.
There wouldn't be much thinking going on during that time.
For every action, there is a reaction.
So let he who is without sin cast the 1st stone.

And I'd like to see some proof that he was verbally abused like he said he was.
Too easy to just say he was called a couple of poor names.
And the footage of his interview on Dawk TV is damning for his own behaviour towards opposition supporters.

I found it interesting that not one of the footy shows I watched (360, otc, classified) touched this story tonight. Would’ve thought it’d be first on the agenda.

Would this be for legal reasons given pending police investigation or the media have pulled the reigns on the story because of the other contexts around it, I wonder?

Funnily enough, It isn't often I feel the urge to get verbal with opposition supporters either.
I have however told a few of own to pull their heads in.
When the game goes bad as they often have over the years, some of our supporters are a disgrace how quickly they turn and abuse our own players.
I find their behaviour embarrassing.
I'm far more venomous when I'm in the privacy of my own home watching on TV.
At the game I'm inclined to quietly just stew.

Sounds like this guy is a serial pest, I have read elsewhere that he was belligerent towards two female saints fans the other week. That said the Melbourne guy needs to know when to walk away or simply point to the scoreboard. I seriously doubt the Hawks fan is innocent in this whole scenario and he should be put on notice as well but the Dees fan has embarrassed himself and unfortunately the club as well. 

Minimum year long ban from the footy and cancelling his membership (if he has one) would be the way I’d go.
