IRON DOM

Tyson had a mixed season and found himself out of the main midfield set up and, on one or two occasions, out of the senior team. He put in some excellent displays on a wing in the lead up to the finals and overcame a fractured forearm in the final round to play in all three of the club’s finals.  Looks to be bound for another club in the trades as early as today.

Is it just me or has he gotten progressively a little worse by the year since he came to MFC?

He's gone from a star in the making in 2014 (11 brownlow votes, kicking 16.6) to a battler in 2018 (0 brownlow votes,  kicking 2.6)

agree. i think because he isn't playing enough game time in his position. If he played inside mid the whole game he'd probably rack up 25+ a game and get votes.

And we'd be finishing 10th.

He's progressing the same rate as Btock Mclean.

Started out as a highly talented junior who shows huge potential early on in his career,  lean form and injuries start to take a toll, starts to lose his pace and gets caught far too often, his disposal by foot has evaporated to the point where he legit struggles to hit a 15m target.

He'll have games next year where he'll win 25 plus touches, but he'll rarely hurts the opposition and will just turn the ball over badly by getting caught or missing a target.

Shame because i was a big Dom Tyson fan.

Got moved out of the midfield by a bunch of young guns, now looking for a trade which will probably be North.

It's hard not to agree with you on this one BBP.

I also think it's more a case not so much of Tyson progressively going backwards but also of others going past him at a rate of knots. Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver and even the likes of ANB, Harmes have excelled this year where Dom hasn't.

Whether it's down to work rate, complete seasons or just natural progression and development I don't know, but I suspect a combination of all three

Will let north supporters grimace when he turns over the ball as we had to grimace

My ex North player acquaintance rang me in a panic this morning and said the worst thing he could imagine had happened: Tyson to North.

Tyson is a great ball winner, when playing on the ball.  Does he think he has more time to get rid of the ball?  He has also been compromised by trying to shrug tackles.  These two aspects have caused turnovers.  So if he eradicates these aspects, he will be a great win for North.

At Melbourne he would have been getting less time in the middle, and his impact would continue to drop.

I wish him well

He was a very good contributor but the side changed for the better with some outstanding new talents across the midfield. Wish Dom the best of luck and footballing fortunes at North and thanks for the great efforts over the past few years.

He was the right player for us at the time. Gave us some hope and helped us reshape the midfield. Both the team and game have evolved, Dom unfortunately hasn't.

I wish him well. He will go alright at North.

Always overrated on here, but as others have stated, he was a super contributor for us as an inside mid in that first year he arrived.

Never quite 'came on' as a former number three pick.

Good luck to the fella.
