Have seen a few mentions popping up in different threads and just wanted to get it all in one place.

Would be great if someone could post what was discussed. 

What I took from it:

- Happy enough for Tyson and Kent to explore options

- Rate Vandenberg higher than the above and would like him to stay, but for personal reasons is exploring his options in Sydney

- No play for May with Hogan still on the list, up to Hogan

- Jayden Hunt won't be traded 

-Confired interest in Kade Kolodjashnij

    Thanks mate. So yeah, that is a very clever way of potentially saying we've been told no for a period of time, but it says nothing about the present or the future. I reckon we're still in with a play for Gaff.

    The one thing we can glean is that we are more than prepared to call Freo’s bluff and have Hogan play out his contract in 2019. If they try and lowball us.

    So basically, unless Freo comes to the party with their 2 first rounders nothing is getting done.

    I was under the understanding that if Hogan walks next year we don't get anything for him so if we do want some compensation we have to trade him this year. Am I wrong?

    No guarantee that Freo gets him next year, he may decide to stay or go to WCE or even replace Buddy @ Sydney on massive $$. If they don't deal now they may not get him, ever. But your point is right re trade picks but we 'd receive AFL compensation, not so good for a Premiership team.

    No a club would still have to come up with a trade offer next year. However because the player is coming off contract we wouldn’t hold as strong a hand in 2019 as we do now. For example Hogan’s manager could threaten to walk him through to the PSD next year. Not an option he has now. Say Freo finish 12th next year and have pick 6 in the draft to offer us. That’s all you’re probably going to get. Possibly even worse if it’s a West Coast he ends up nominating. Then you’re getting a pick 15+ and not much else.

    The opportunity cost to Freo for securing a gun key forward now is the extra top 10 pick. I can’t believe they would go to these lengths to pry Hogan off our list whilst still under contract and not at least tacitly understand this.

    If they’re coming to the bargaining table with pick 5 and chump change then Hogan will be playing in the forward 50 for Melbourne next year. And Fyfe can keep looking up and still have no-one decent to kick the pill to!

    No he's not, was first on an AFL list in 2014, so will only have 7 years of service at the end of next year. That's the same way the AFL treated the GC guys who were pre-listed so Hogan will be the same.

    Interesting. My major takeaways:

    1. Hogan out, May in has to be at least 70% I think. And they must feel confident that they'll land May. Sounds like they had him lined up as a major target post 2019 season.

    2. Preuss is either not a lock or they are willing to negotiate hard with North to get him for a good price. I wonder who the other options are?

    3. They know they need more outside class and pace. Lots of mentions of balancing the list. Think it takes more than just Kade Kolo to achieve that, very keen to see who else is on the target list.

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day.       It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition.
