I'd be happy with Freos pick 5 or 6 plus next years first rounder, fair for both parties, we get what we want and Freo get an early pick in the draft plus Hogan. Swap of picks or Langdon and we walk away happy.

ps: he's a 5 and first round next year.

Im not getting upset Dan, its all strategic from here, Dees Hierarchy just need to sit and wait.

Mahoney is playing the game well, we sit tight and wait for Freo to blink first. We get what we want or he plays out his final year, he's our player still.

We won't get 4 and 5 straight up. But..  what if we offered our 2019 1st round as well? I assume the club will be aiming top 4-6 so worst case that's pick 13/14

OUT: Hogan, 1st 2019; IN: picks 4 and 5

Then... We use picks 4 and 33 to secure May kolajaisni and some kind of steak knife pick in the 40s

All up:

Out: Hogan, 2019 1st Rd, pick 33

In: May, Kolla, pick 5 and the steak knives

Well....not really DC. Our leverage is much greater right at the moment. Freo will have much better picks this year than is likely next. Sure we can keep Jesse...but we won't get the same ridiculous offers in 12 m time.

I'd rather have players in 19 that will be there in 20. Let's continue the construct and refinement without hiccups.

can't agree with this assessment, bub.

as for getting these "same ridiculous offers", that is the point i made. if we get the good offers then fine, so far i'm seeing a lot of noise indicating offers that don't make us demonstrably better. as for next year, weagles bound to be in it big time. plus a lot can change in 12 months

i don't want to see a hogan for may plus small change. we would be worse off imo

no fire sale, hogan stays

We were Gaffs club of choice but not prepared to pay what he (his manager)was asking. Has that changed after he saw how close he was last week and realised what it actually means to win one, I have no idea

Hogans trip to Perth this week is nothing suspicious it was long planned he and mates are heading to Europe and may include Oktoberfest

Suns want May out if he is not prepared to commit beyond next season. As they move to restart their culture

I'm sure a phone call would have been made from the Eagles coach, to Jesse... before he heads off on his European vacation.

Eagles are right in this, claws and all.

I don't share your view.

I know you don’t.

I don’t want to see JH kick 70 - 80 goals for Freo the way Kennedy does for Meth Coke.

Carlscum lost out on that trade badly.

He would need to perform against top 8 sides to kick that many...

Long bow here but Johnstone's delisting to me would suggest Hogan has told club he is going. It leaves 33 spots on primary list (7 remaining...). We only have four 'live' picks as it stands...32,43,50,86.

Preuss and KK to come in potentially, but Kent, Hogan and maybe Vandenberg and Tyson out...

Something tells me we are going to be fairly active.

I have it on very good authority that if Hogan does go to Freo or West Coast, Melb would be asking for 2 x top 10 draft picks minimum - not two first round picks as being communicated through the media. They will play hard ball. Key forwards (think Josh kennedy/judd trade) do not happen often, so the price is more than a premium mid.

Because it might get the deal done? And gets us what we want out of a Hogan trade.

Obviously my preference is to keep him but if that can't happen then we need to make the trade work for us. Not sit there kicking and screaming "waiting for them to blink"

It's about what you get in. And I think that ins list, vastly improves our position for this year

It's really not that crazy. Recent history tells us we can expect two first rounders but not two top 10 picks in the same draft for Hogan alone.

The Treloar and Lever trades are the most recent examples I would be inclined to use as a precedent - a top 10 pick + a future first rounder and an exchange of later draft selections.

In the event that JH requests a trade there will be elements to a deal that will be completely unpredictable, despite all the speculation in the world from journos and fans alike.

The thing is the media have just kept on the same c#*& all week, and we still not any closer to knowing what the outcome is going to be?

I don't want to lose Jesse, but if he wants to return home after what he has gone through then i can understand, and move on, i just wants what best for the club and of course that's going on to win a flag.

I must admit although i know who May is, i don't know what type of player he is and if he is worth all this trouble, however in saying that reading comments on here from different people who have watched him say he is worth the pick 5? I just think Jesse is worth two picks as well, and i don't want us to finish up just giving him away for just one pick.

Not knowing drives me crazy i just want it to be done.

I want Jesse to play in front of 92,000 people, wearing an MFC Jumper before he decides the future of his next contract.

If he wants to go home this year, it must be for a premium cost, otherwise the deal is withdrawn.

Hell he can still visit family from time to time. Air travel is cheap.

Hogan hasn’t reached his peak yet, F$&@ed if i want to see the Shockers prosper at our expense. They joined this comp in ‘95. They can bloody wait a bit longer.

Here, Here. They have been chasing and wanting A KPF there whole existance, and now they've identified he wants to come home and get him on the cheap? Cmon now Shockers.

Were here for Premierships now, not just to make up the numbers, were playing for keeps.

How do you know the current offer is ridiculous?  How do you know we won't get a better offer in 12 months time?  It's all about outcomes.

We have the whip hand and really should drive a hard bargain on Hogan.

We're in the premiership window and if don't get what we need we keep him.  Pick 5 and a future first would also be reasonable.

We don't want picks PD, we want players.  If we get them through the Hogan trade then we'll do it, if not, we won't.

I'm pretty sure PD wasn't insinuating we'd hold onto the future first rounder in that situation. More that this would give us another asset to bring in a ready-made player now.

If Jesse wants to go home this year but we can't get the deal we want then what happens? Do we get screwed and have to release him or do we make him play out his contract?

I don't believe Jesse would put us in that position but I don't want to get Cam McCarthyed.

I'd happily take Cerra off their hands, but what's wrong with a first round draft pick ?

What's wrong with a combination of players (May, Kolodashnij, Preuss, etc.) and a quality pick ?

The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
