Melksham - the Essendon player

Smith - showed some glimpses

Hannan - played little part

Oliver - always under pressure

Weideman - looked a schoolboy

Harmes - tried without effect

Petracca - a major disappointment

Brayshaw -fumbled and stumbled

Gawn - had no impact

Spargo - little to enthuse

Frost - kept at task

Hibberd - obviously played injured

Jetta - loose and overwhelmed

Lewis - nothing to commend

O. McDonald - amateur 3 quarters

T.McDoald - had no influence

Neal- Bullen - was he playing?

Salem - succumbed to pressure

Tyson - last Demon game

vandenBerg - tried but careless

I have to ask before I post ...were you at the game ?

Might get shot down for saying this but Viney should be stand alone captain in 2018 with T Mac VC.

Get rid of Lewis and pay him out and transition Jones into his role and hopefully Hunt, Stretch, Baker and Co and come through.

Team     they seemed  overawed.

Team     they seemed  lost

Team      in a trance.

If we are serious next year he cant play. We got him to 300, he's come in and been apart of the development phase, now its time to become part of the coaching setup.

Lever back next year, Salem can play his role. Thanks Jordan but the time has come.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
