“I say old chap, what is it again that you sing?”

Let’s go back to our snobby roots.

I actually have a good mate called Wadaweh Singh.

The thing is, in the thirties, forties and fifties...  we weren't snobs...

It was a time after WW1...  the great depression...  polio...  and WW2

It Was Pre Baby-Boomers...  and the class thing... higher education, and Elitist Snobbery.

Our time was before Political Correctness destroyed our Spirit.

I've always disliked  the line in our anthem..."should auld acquaintance be forgot".

Perhaps we could sing...."Just bring 'em on, we'll beat the lot !",instead.

Can  Demonlanders please have a think and suggest another line. It could be the best and most inspiring part of the song...(like "Yellow and Black!!" as mentioned in the OP.)

...and we sing this song to you

(Pass me the brie!)

Gouda and quince paste camembert

Keep your eye on the red and the blue

Speaking of Theme songs

I wondering whether the team will run out to "Hells Bells" as it is our home game. Even though I like the song, and the "hells" connection, the transition into "A grand Old Flag" is cringeworthy. I reckon they should play Hells Bells and then give it a good 30 sec pause and time the GOF as they run through the banner

That's a leap, 'Ffy5'. I didn't say that.

They happened, with our club, around the same time.   Modern elitism in footy.  Elitism was spreading wider in our community, with wider wealth spread, and growing higher education numbers.  The beginning of the devide, for us.

Agree 'D_s'.

Make 'Hells Bells',  loud and proud, stand alone...  get the hackles up.

Then, the Demon theme song, on the 'toss of coin'.

Yes, it's pretty jarring. It's like starting with Beethoven and then cutting to the theme song from the Flintstones. It's actually comically bad.

People have been flippant about my criticism of the line “ should auld acquaintance be forgot” in response to “whadda we sing??!!”

The only argument I’ve heard for it was...”it’s our tradition!” No-one is more tradition-bound than me.....BUT....

I find it a terrible anti-climax.......I’d like to sing something inspiring after asking “whadda we sing!?”

I made an amateurish suggestion. Master Rackham improved on mine.

Surely you creative Demon fanatics can come up with something better!!!

Maybe the creative D fanatics are worried about being burnt on a stake, for engaging in this sensitive area?

Agreed. Maybe even that 30 or 60 second promo package before the first bounce can go before "grand old flag". On another note, shattered we (spurs) lost to Watford.

I’m disappointed that you’re being flippant now, Master Rackham.

You were my best hope.

Btw, do the Auld Lang Syne fanatics know that men are supposed to hold hands with each other  when they sing it?

It's alright JJC. You will still be rescued by Luke Skywalker and destroy the death star.

(Also, I will be struck down by Gil McLachlan and become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.)

Yeah I like this idea, gives the crowd a chance to cheer in solo as they run through the banner before hearing the song.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
