Rd 23: AFL Team of the Week

Featured Replies

So, who did the Doggies, Saints, Port, Freo and Swans beat on the weekend.

Those players selected must have made the difference....

Kane's taking the P... now.

Cornes is extracting the urine with these teams now. Two Saints midfielders in a side that lost by 4 goals to North in a dead rubber.

he is so biased, he consistently picks Grundy over Gawn even when we know that Gawny is loads better and usually has a better game.

Frost? Harmes? Nev? Gus? Clarry? all could have made an appearance. absolutely disgraceful

Kane is a former player with no relevance or credability. He needs to make contraversial comments or opinions to try and be head above the other media throng. His team of the week is a nonsense and not worth wasting time on

His sides have been putrid in the 2nd half of the year.

Its like he suddenly decided to hate the Demons.   He always puts Grundy ahead of Gawn no matter what.

Seriously the guy has NFI just like his balloonhead dad

Port have been a joke and underachieving footy club ever since Hinkley let Cornes get to 300 games and then retire mid 2015 season to become a fireman!  Clueless commentator.

I wonder what he's like as a fireman? He certainly has no business being a football commentator.

Yeah Kane, put the guy who just won the coaches award for best player in the competition on the bench......really well thought out.

Probably should stop calling it the 'AFL Team of the week'  just cos its on AFL.com

Its the Kane Cornes team of the week.  i.e  it  means nothing

No big deal. Think about it.. even if no dee makes the all australian team but we win the flag, I couldn't care less.

Think again.. we are in the finals!!!! who cares what Cornes thinks? His team of the week can have 22 port players.

I can't wait for Friday week!! Damn AFL had to have a bye...

Interesting. I've usually agreed when he's picked Grundy but this week is a bit odd. Did well around the ground but I didn't think he smashed it at stoppages by a long shot. No-where near the best game Grundy has played this year.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

Melbourne wrapped up the AFLW home and away season with a hard-fought 14-point win over Geelong at Kardinia Park. The result secured second place on the ladder with a 9–3 record and a home qualifying final against the Brisbane Lions next week.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
