This is compelling viewing imo:  On The Mark: Neville Jetta

Neville is an outstanding young man!  We all know him as 'rock' in our defence,  but this is more than matched by the snippets we learn about his 'journey', his family and the work he does away from the limelight of the AFL.    Extremely well spoken, with a sense of humor that I hadn't seen before.  Brilliant!

Legend

Wow. It turns out it is possible to respect Neville Jetta even more than I did before.

For anyone hesitating to follow the link, go for it, you wont regret it.

I loved the bit about his 3 yr old son.  Was in Auskick, and kicked about five goals.  Nev asked him to handball to him.  The young lad replied "It's AusKICK, Dad, not Aus-handball...!!".

And, as others have said, Nev's clearly a truly quality human being.  All credit to the young man!  Very proud he's a Dee...!

Still haven’t watched it yet, I recorded it so I could listen to the DL podcast!

This man is legend status. Should be recognised by the club as such.

Great interview.  Nev does come across much better in this interview than he did in the Demonland podcast earlier this year, in which he came across as a bit flustered and distracted (trying to get the kids to bed in the background from what I recall).

Very refreshing in that someone of his realitive celebrity status as an AFL footballer is so grounded in family, comunity values and very self-less in his actions (just like his onfeild performances).

Found it interesting  (but not surprising) the love that Nev's son has for Bernie Vince, to the point of naming their family dog after him (a bit naughty like Bernie, lol).  I really do get the feeling that with guys like Nev, Bernie, Max, Jack Viney, Jones, Stretch, Freitch and others around the club that their would be a great off feild culture at the MFC these days.

Thanks DOF I didn't know about it until I read this post. I liked the introduction, 'Melbourne Star', he really is, and spoke beautifully, talked about being accessible, amazing stuff. Can't wait to see his first finals game, will be breathing fire and eating forwards of all descriptions. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/be/El_coloso.jpg/543px-El_coloso.jpg

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
