I think if we play Fritschkrieg off one wing and Spargo off the other we should  be ok.   Jeffy up forward and Frosty down back have some toe also.   Need T-Mac, JKH and in particular Hogan and Jeffy to click and fire up forward for the above to work though, including a number of contested marks and plenty of pressure on their defenders to help out our mids and HBs.

In addition we need to cover the corridor when we don't have the ball and push them out wide and down the lines on the kick ins.  If this isn't working early with the usual zone press Goody has to be willing to go man on man in our forward half and also covering any individual Doggies that have speed through the middle.  Effectively a plan B if the zone press is showing early signs of fracturing (this could result from the press getting too skinny or drawn too deep into our forward line, allowing the opp to get the ball out the back...something i feel we have erred with in the past on the wider expanses of the G).

If we can't contain the Doggies on their slingshot 'attempts' at the G with this line up we will have learned nothing from the Saints debacle.

He's not slow as such...just not quick. This is the difference between effective at VFL...and not so much at AFL.

It's a valid criteria for being relevant or not at elite level. 

He does some nice stuff...at this level ..some needs to be more ' a lot' ... otherwise someone else should.

The backline of the dogs may have to rotate players on him. The same with Tom, Jesse and ANB (all elite endurance) . That could stretch them and throw their backline out of balance. I think he is faster than Bugg and Tyson (though not saying much). I also think he is maturing well and should do better this time out. Hope he makes it, a defining game for him (AFL or not).

I guess the FD liked our balance last week. In terms of players who can play mid/forward and apply that pressure and spread that Stretch did last week I don't think JKH is a bad option. I'm glad we didn't pick Baker who clearly isn't ready. Who else would you pick to play this role? Kent isn't there yet being rusty in his first few games back. Only other I can think of is Bugg and I don't think he has enough dash to play on a wing. JKH isn't slow lol. He'd be as quick as Spargo or ANB. Not slow

How is Baker clearly not ready his form has been just as good if not better than JKH in the VFL?

JKH is not a player i would pick against a quick side

Jeez Dom Tyson must be in the doghouse. He is now behind JKH in the pecking order.

JKH is an interesting inclusion in that he could look amazing compared to earlier games, but that could be due to both his improvement and the teams improvement. 

 

Our ability to win clearances will mean he doesn't have to win his own all day. He can use his tank to get in good positions and also add defensive cover for us, a bit like a better skilled ANB.

 

As long as he gets to positions all day and doesn't let his opponent run off him, he could complement the current team well.
