Razor and Pannel? Are you serious? This week? Seems suss AFL would send Razor Ray to Darwin, enough there for a good conspiracy!

Maybe they are hoping he will get eaten by a stray crocodile.

Those 50m protected zone goals are killing the game. Cost is last week and some rediculous ones over the last 2 weeks the hannebury one last night was the worst of all-time.

Honestly you all need a good look at yourselves. The umpires are wonderful people who do a wonderful job. It never ceases to amaze me how we are favoured each game and yet we complain.

Sorry, I am just bull shiting. They are a bunch of Manipulating twits. Who is responsible for them ? AFL?

I notice that umpire no 28 isn't umpiring this week. ......should improve the overall standard no end.

He did our game.

Which shows they are able to umpire fairly and to the rules. So now we've taken incompetence out of the equation, what are the other potential reasons for the disgraceful calls against us in previous games?

The umpiring was good except the below the knees rule is a disgrace (for both teams).

Yep, forget ducking your head, it's getting to the point that the easiest way to milk a free is to stumble over a player laying on the ground.

There were a couple of moments in the last quarter where I’d released the obligatory “ahh” when our players clearly dived on the back of the opposition, only for the whistle not to blow. Phew. It’s not often you notice those - I must have been pretty relaxed at that stage.

I feel it was pretty well umpired all in all, but my basis of that is that nothing they did infuriated me, which surpringly (not) happens a lot more often when we’re winning.

Agreed, Clint, but there are a few out there in other teams who have worked out that 'taking the legs out' of someone - or more frequently, pretending that you are falling whilst 'having your own legs taken out' by one in control of the ball on the ground - is equivalent to a free kick in the 'raise the arm and duck' Selwood masterclass. It is disgraceful and the umpires are susceptible to its Tom Foolery.

I reckon the White Brethren read our comments last week on their performances and fickle decisions....

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
