How Good is Goodwin?

Solid, young AFL coach with much still to learn, has done very little wrong in his playing career, assistant coaching roles and the start to his senior career. Calm, collective and thoughtful with a solid consistent message infront of the media. Developing nicely and has the potential to be a superstar if given time to develop into the role.

However, started at the wrong club for a first time coach - many MFC supporters are impatient and doubt he gets the time to develop compared to him joining a bigger club. Immediate results will make or break him once Jackson leaves.

Completely disagree. I think he started at the perfect club Davey Dee. No only did he have the chance to be mentored by Roos who is, at the very least, a master  in terms of managing people, but he also was at the pointy end of some really good list management. The position he took on was plump...and he is enhancing his career by the week.  I look over at the gold coast at Dew,  who l still believe turned our offer down, and think THAT was the wrong club for a first time coach. Yes we're success starved and impatient.....as we should be!! Of course we WANT a flag but I dont think we're going to sack him if we dont win a flag in the next 2 or 3  years either.

MELB in the past 6 weeks have score 765 points and conceded 372 (205.6%) 205.6% is their best ever percentage over any 6 game span Prev: 204.4% in 1897 R01-06 - the first 6 games the club ever played @melbournefc @AFL

I'm impatiently waiting for the mystical flag.
Considering I'm entering my 50th year and still haven't seen one, put up with some of the absolute garbage dished up for most of those years  and are still here suggests that we as a supporter base have displayed the utmost loyalty and patience.
And I consider any comment to contrary insulting and ignorant.

I note that your posts regularly include criticism of MFC supporters, usually with generalisations.  It is getting tiresome.

He has to make generalisations as he doesn't have first hand experience

You're a lot like my old man Fork, he was 4 in 1964. I suspect there to be many members of the club and on here who are all in a similar boat. You are the one's that deserve to see a flag most of all, almost the forgotten generation.

What is the % of members that have been following the club for the past 50 or so years and are yet to see a premiership? A majority of the 43k i suspect.

Goody is good, that’s why his name is Goodwin , because we are now having multiple good wins.

While he is winning he will be fine, but as a community you are too thin skinned too fragile.

When Jackson goes a new CEO will have his hands full. I have seen no evidence you have the support structures in place to run the course. Actually, much of the written evidence in this place & places like Facebook ( assuming you believe it ) suggests your supporter base has a long, long way to go.

AFL has some very interesting choices ahead.

So we've been downgraded to "you" this week. Just when I thought we'd made it as "we".

Thank you for your heartfelt and not at all misplaced concern and messages of advice. Wise, experienced AFL supporters such as yourself are always welcome on opposition fan forums.

If, in the future, we need any advice on how to adequately support our club, will you still be around to hold our trembling hands?

Meanwhile I note that no thin skinned, fragile Demons supporter has ever spat on our coach, microwaved memberships, or dumped chicken poo at the club's offices.

Notice how Dr Who, I mean Davey Dee, keeps referring to us as you. Yet more proof he is not one of us.

He has been confronted about his identity, as Dr Who is not welcome. As I have said before (and witnessed), the guy is a bald faced liar and nothing but a troll, don’t let him upset you.

He's bald as well? Poor bugger. Lucky I didn't get my old man's hairline.

Outrageous. I did time because of Dr Who.

But it was worth it, because now we see it written

He infiltrates demons sites on Facebook as well

today he copped a pounding, telling us we should change our name to the Dragons because Demons are offensive

but boy...we were good for those 2 quarters weren't we lol  what was it...6 goals down at one stage to 5 goals  up just before 3 qtr time?

It was an even 40 point margin. That first quarter wasn't bad. Crows just went on a run and we couldn't stop it. It was ultimately an even game overal, they just got in top in the last. We timed our run too early.

His name isn’t Badloss

Its Goodwin.

When you come here people call you out for being what and who you are. You are not a Melbourne supporter. Many of us do not like you and your mischievous ways, yet you keep posting here. Are you seeking attention? Perhaps the moderators should add a dislike button and if you get enough dislikes you disappear, maybe force non MFC supporters to pay Demonland to post. I am sick of your negativity, I can only just bear it from supporters. Go back to whatever hell hole that you actually belong in.

Don''t know if you have worked it out yet simpleton but Melbourne supporters couldn't give a toss about whatever inane thoughts enter that pea brain of yours. Do everyone here a favor and crawl back into that sewer you spawned from turncoat

Took a couple of Big Hits for the team DN

He had to go....

Goody is basically what he should be at this stage of the journey.

He is still learning but like the team he is on an upward trend. That is what I want from a coach in his first few years.

I remember watching Open Mike a few years ago when Paul Couch was a guest. He spoke about 1993 when Malcolm Blight moved everyone around and focused on a more defensive game plan. Besides Ablett lighting up the AFL as a full forward, the rest of the moves were bollocks and the Cats slumped badly.

However, he was able to get some breath taking footy out of them for the rest of that year (and into a GF the next), by fronting the playing group and admitting good errors. He went back to their philosophy of all out attack and put them all back into their old spots (besides Gazza).

After Hawthorn, Goody seemed to learn what went wrong and adjusted his ways. That is an excellent sign.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
