Nevvy was fantastic on the weekend, but I'm not sure he's had a better year than last - although I'm also not sure about his back pocket competition. Hogan is playing better than Brown, but has not kicked as many goals, and there is a lot of love for Brown. Oliver is up against some heavyweight competition, and is probably just off the leaders.

Why 3?  It's the even spread of contributions from everyone in the side at the moment.  The above 3 are the consistent standouts for me.

Agree on your three, although I reckon Melky is in the mix - his standout games on Rance and against Carlton will have won him points and this year there will be no Betts as the small forward. Bruest, Caddy, De Goey and even Walters are challenging for those spots I think.

As to Jetta, he was a standout on Saturday - I reckon it was the best game I've seen him play - but even then he only went forward 251m. That's the negative wrap on him - he only hurts sides by stopping players. He also started season poorly. But if he keeps playing like he did Saturday, then he'll firm for a spot. Plenty of options in his role. Laird and Tom Stewart are certs and Hurn and Vlaustin must be close as well.

They even admit in the title they snubbed our players therefore admitting their writers are a joke.

No way Melksham makes the squad.  He's playing very good for us, but nowhere near what it takes to be an AA.  This isn't being critical of his output - his consistency is helping make us a better side.

Foxfooty have updated their Squad of 40 somewhat, after Paul Roos rated Shaun Higgins in the top 10 players in the league. 

They added 12 players as 'Unlucky' to be omitted including three very worth Dees:

Neville Jetta: Find a Demons supporter who doesn’t rate Neville Jetta. The small defender goes about his business every week and is one of the club’s walk up starters, such is his consistency and preparation. Rarely has his colours lowered.

Tom McDonald: The reinvented forward is exceptionally stiff to miss out, with an interrupted start to the season to blame. McDonald has kicked 19 goals in six matches and has provided a perfect second foil for teammate Jesse Hogan.

Jake Melksham: Ranked second in score assists and seventh in score involvements, Melksham has rebranded himself into one of the most reliable forwards in the AFL. The former Bomber kicked five goals from 21 touches against Carlton, which AFL player ratings labelled as the best individual game of the season.

I've always been of the view that AA selections are rather like job interviews in that the "primacy" and "recency" factors have too much influence. "Primacy" means the ones noticed first (for the AA, that means those players who dominate in the first few rounds; for job interviews, it's the first person interviewed) while "recency" refers to the ones noticed at the end (last few games in the home and away series for AA, last person interviewed for the job). If Tom McDonald retains his form, though, particularly if he's strong in the last 2-3 weeks of the season, I doubt the games he missed will go against him.

Gawn, Hogan & Oliver are certainties for me, although Oliver probably needs a couple of stand out games in the next month to keep himself in the picture given his relative lack of profile. 

Jetta is coming from a long way back given his first month, but there isn't a lot of competition for his spot either.

Tom McDonald would need to play every game from here to make the team. 17 of 22 games would be borderline to make the team, 6 of 11 at present is not even close, regardless of form.

Grundy should be in the team as well. I have no issue with two rucks being named, particularly in a year where there haven't been a lot of standout midfielders.

That fox squad is a complete w*nk. Webster, Seedsman & Pearce in the backline; three Hawthorn forwards; the entire Collingwood midfield.

Garry Lyon On The Couch last night was asked to pick his All Australian backline, and Gerard Healy said surely Jetta will be in there..  he wasn't.   Garry then explained he wanted him in there but Jetta wasn't in the 40 man squad he was given to choose from.

Which i assume was the squad from that joke of a Fox article.

Hogan has only kicked 4 less goals than brown, despite Brown parking himself in the Roos forward 50 all game.

Hogan averaging 20 disposals and dominating all over the park to go with his 31 goals.

Hes a way better player than brown...   in fact Judd said on Footy Classified last night that Hogan is the best player in the comp at the moment.

But thats irrelevant to the AA team -  Hogan and Brown arent fighting for 1 position.  Hogan could be named in any of the 6 forward spots ..  Brown is a full forward only, and if hes not careful could be displaced by Josh Kennedy whos still kicking a lot of goals and climbing the Coleman leader board fast.

An AFL article today lists players from each club that are in All-Australian contention mid-season. 

Ours according to Ben Guthrie are, Oliver, Hogan, Gawn, Jetta and this bloke. I tend to agree.

This might be one from left field but Demons supporters will know how important Oscar McDonald has been this season. Would be top five in the club's best and fairest award, making giant strides in his role as Melbourne's No.1 key defender.

Oliver stiff, and Jetta should be back pocket instead of Whitfield.

Lloyd does a weekly team but he was away for some reason, so Cornes took over and did a midyear AA team.

Gawn, Oliver and Hogan surely will all be in the AA team.

Pretty sure the MFC has never had three All Australians in the same season, this could be the year.
