So have I, did you even read the thread? I've listed where i have been, for 23 years now in harms way (ok Rome has been cushy last couple of years, but I travel a fair bit). I actually feel a bit sorry for you, seeing anyone killed and not being able to do anything must gnaw at you. I can understand with a first hand experience like that you might be damaged. All i am arguing against is this one size fits all approach to islam, it's moronic, we have no argument about the extremists, I want them extinct. But I cannot reconcile all the muslims I know who are good faithful people by any western definition as being the same as nut jobs who commit atrocities like your description.

This post isn't about Muslims, it's about Islam.  

The Muslims you know and like don't practice Islam in the way it's intended.  And thank %$#@ for that.

Islam is clear and unambiguous. 

I can only assume that you're one of the many who don't understand Islam.   And there's nothing worse that someone who pontificates through sheer ignorance.

You said back there your expertise was based upon your wide reading and "anecdotes".  I'm not interested in the latter (which I presume is Pro-speak for unmediated rubbish you see on the Internet), but what is this "reading"? What are the books you've read? (I know you've mentioned the Koran, but using that as the basis for an argument would be like using the Bible to condemn the Christian West) 

 

By the way, I'm still waiting for your explanation of what you mean by saying you're "cause-based" and we're "side based".
