That 2nd quarter today was made harder for us to endure by the length of it. I was 'watching' the match on Match Centre and it went for just under 43 minutes ( total elapsed time).

Surely this would have to be one of the longest quarters in AFL/VFL history? Was there an injury that caused a major hold up?

It definitely went for a long time. I was on Match Centre but i think it said 34 mins...easy to miss read i guess.

I am more concerned with why it happens. They players cant go at full tilt the whole game, unless on a supervised drug program or black opps....oops sorry......

Look its not the first time its happened. As i posted in the post match, it happens with some regularity as it did many times last year. So my question is, is it to do with the players pacing themselves, rotations etc game plan.....how does it work? They must be under some sort of instruction on how to run out the game. Is this plan backfiring?

Na its not fitness. Its just a lack of development to know when and how to slow the game down and work it forward carefully.

Playing at lightning pace works a lot..but when the oppo has momentum you need to stop it.

Cats did it very well yesterday. A number of times they held onto the ball for about 2 mins. A couple of switches, back and forth, carefully down the wing and a f50 entry. Takes the sting out - but its knowing when AND having the ability to execute as a team.

The hawks were masters of it.

Maybe someone watching the second quarter could time how long it went from siren to siren? Please do so to prove my point  or otherwise. Thanks someone.

I was at the game, game clock showed around 33mins for the 1st quarter and 34mins for the 2nd quarter. I just fast forwarded through the first half on my Foxtel recording, confirmed those times. ??

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
