Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Experiments for the NAB cup

Freak

Recommended Posts

Put down what you would personally like Daniher to try come round 1 NAB cup.

-I would like to see White play mostly up forward, with Jamar given the whole game as number 1 ruck.

- Danny Hughes to be played in the forward pocket for the whole game.

- Dunn CHF

- Bate on the wing and given game time

- Simon Buckley on the other wing.

-Newton given permanent full-forward spot

-Bruce and Green both deep in the forward line.

-Give McLean plenty of rest so he can be fit and healthy for the proper season.

- Give Frawley a go given that he puts on weight in the pre-season.

We are playing hawthorn first up and they will be experimenting with their kids so its a good opportunity to experiment with ours.

What would you like to see?

I think it is a given that Neitz will be rested until the last preseason game (like last year) therefore it is a good opportunity to try a few different forward set ups.

I like the idea of leaving Newton at FF, but a change needs to be made if he is not getting a kick after two games. Others who would be worth a look there are Miller, Dunn, PJ and even Bate.

I would also like to see the resting ruckman getting more game time deep in the forward half (hopefully this includes Neaves).

Wheatley should be given a wing/half forward position to try and make his own.

Bizzell needs a run to prove he is not too old and slow.

I think that the likes of Robbo, Davey, Travis, Wheels, Byron, Green, Bruce Yze, McLean, White and even Macca might be rested for a couple of the games if they show some good form early and don't need the run due to injury (touch wood). Doing this will open up an opportunity to try some of the younger brigade.

The first side should be selected on training form with an emphasis on giving the younger players a crack to prove themselves. The older fringe players will always get their opportunity if the young blokes don't cut it.

I can't think of too many other 'experiments' that would benefit the team when all are fit and able to be selected. Perhaps putting Sylvia on a HBF where he played so well against the Roos last preseason.

Go Dees - too many days to go.....bugger.

Not really fussed who plays where, but this is who I want to see play:

-Buckley

-Frawley

-Petterd

-CJ

-Sylvia

-Bell

-Newton

-Warnock

-Dunn

-Bate

-Jones

-Jamar

-PJ (if fit)

-Neaves (are rookie eligible?)

This is who I don't want to see, unless we make the final:

-Neitz

-Brock

-Rivers

-Whelan

-Bruce

-White

Got to protect our 6 most important players, all of which are injury prone.

Guest Dream Team

Some good ideas. I want Warnock as FB, CJ & PJ up forward, Bucks on a wing, Newton FF, Dunn CHF, Neaves in the ruck with Jamar and Weetra any where on the ground.

I want to see CJ at HBF for the majority of our games, with Danny Hughes at HFF for the majority of our games.

I liked the idea of Miller leading up the ground and Dunn filling Miller's position when Miller is up the ground, which was suggested here or on 'ology not too long ago. This should be done for all the pre-season games.

I've been trying to formulate a side that has all the young'uns we want in there, but unfortunately if we were to select ALL of the guys I want to see, it would be the next best thing to forfeiting the game. It's still interesting to look at, even if it's just fantasy.

eg.

B: Petterd Warnock Neville

HB: Wheatley Carroll Frawley

C: Buckley Moloney CJ

HF: Sylvia Miller Dunn

F: Hughes Newton Hayes

R: Jamar Jones Pickett

Int: PJ Weetra Neaves Bode Garland Yze

That's a full side of players who are not confirmed as starting in our 24, with the exception of the following:

Carroll - needed 1 more KP defender who isn't injury prone.

Pickett - will probably need 4 pre-season matches to get match-fit.

Dunn/Miller - depending on your point of view.

Jamar/PJ - depending on your point of view.

Jones - depending on your point of view.

Sylvia - needs to be given every chance to prove himself.

Yze - needs to earn his spot. And LEAD.

Moloney - assuming he's injury and OP free he needs to be given the chance to get fit and earn his rightful place again.

If we were to field that side against a full-strength Hawthorn, we'd be in trouble all over the ground. It'd be exciting and all, but we'd be in trouble.

I'm wracking my brain trying to remember what kind of a 24 ND went with last time, and with the exception of Neitz being out I can't remember what he went with. One thing's for sure though, there's going to be players included that you just wouldn't think would ever get a go, like Bartram who not only played, but just kept going and going.

If I don't see Buckley, CJ, Dunn, Hughes, Newton and Neaves at some point I'll be very disappointed. I also hope Neville finally gets a crack after an ugly year with injury. After being retained I expect we'll see Bode as well. Weetra would be fantastic to see play after all the interest in his selection, but from what I heard he's got a way to go yet. I expect to see Garland do a Bate/Dunn and get selected next year. My smoky for senior selection in 2007, particularly for the NAB is Hayes. I don't expect him to do a Davey necessarily, but I live in hope.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
