The AFL Draft Combine 2017 kicked off today. Some (but not all) of the best talent will be on display  over the coming week.

Andrew Brayshaw testing very very well. His second half of the year was superb.  Top 10-12 pick. If only we could welcome him but I fear highly highly unlikely.

Paul Connors on Trade Radio said this morning that Aiden Bonar was earmarked as an MFC Multicultural Academy player.  He has come in from pick #100 to around pick #20 and 'mfc wouldn't be too happy about that'.

The sooner they change the Multicultural Academy draft bidding system to be the same as F/S and the Northern Academies, ie being able to match bids, the better.

Have you seen much of Sebastian Williams WJ? Do you think he will get drafted ? Would love to have Don Williams grandson at the club.

I haven't seen as much of him in action as I would have liked Neita but I did see a bit of him from time to time at Dragons training during the season (which is next door to where my grandsons' junior team trains). 

Williams has been described as "a nice little player" which in terms of draftability is not necessarily a great recommendation. You have to really have some special talents to come into contention high up in the draft if you're 177cm. In Seb's case, he's got a few things going for him but if push comes to shove, I think most clubs would prefer players a bit taller with the same capabilities as on-ballers and there are a lot around in that category. It would be a romantic tale if he was drafted by the club but I think it would only be as a rookie.
