Tom McDonald v West Coast ... to win the game.

No, the watershed moment before our decline.

For me Hunts torpedo.

#2

Oliver kicked the impossible goal (from 'Eddie's pocket' no less) that was a key in the momentum to overtake the Crows lead and win a great game.

Clayton Oliver from the boundary line vs Adelaide was the best Melbourne goal for the year IMO

#4

Watts stunning run and stirring goal vs the pies on QB to win us the game

Go to your first post and click on 'Edit'.  At the top you should see a tab with 'Poll'.  Click on it and fill in the gaps.

I think only the thread originator (or mods) can do this.

Yes another magic moment.  Happy days

All the nominations are great goals but the  baggage that comes with them leaves a bad taste. After all WC, Collingwood and Adelaide hasd the last laugh. Thats why I go for Hunt's goal. Pure execution of the most difficult kick though irrelevant in the context of the result.

Hard to choose.  I'd like to go with Oliver but I reckon it clipped the post.

For sheer joy I would go with Watts first, with McDonald a very close second.

All of them.

Ah those were happier times.

I could actually make a case for all four of these. We've had some cracking goals this year

For pure emotion, I'd have to go Watt's goal on QB.

For sheer epicness, definitely McDonald's goal to sink the Eagles at Domain.

For unbelievable flukiness, it's hard to go past Oliver's goal from the boundary in Adelaide.

For perfect execution,  it 100% has to be Jayden's torpedo at 3 quarter time in Darwin.

Honorable mentions to Pederson's running goal against the Lion's and Hannan's collection of mouth-watering crumbs.

Went with Hunts, to be able to nail a torp is hard enough but to get the accuracy is extremely difficult... Olivers was more a throw it on your boot & hope

Hunts torp was the best.

Assessed and executed a difficult skill of the game beautifully.

I agree.  It eases the pain just slightly to remember the joy those goals bring.  I love them all!

I'll never forget the eruption of noise from the Punt Rd end after Watts sealed the QB game. Magic moment, and the look of pure joy on my boy's face.

but I picked Clarrys goal from the point of view that I'd taken the family across to watch that game as well and I took sheer delight in whooping loudly and yelling out "how good was that" to the sad maggot stunned crows supporters.

PS - it didn't hit the post WB

I reckon if you look closely, you'll see the spin of the ball change as it goes past the post.  You can see it on the replays.  Deserves to be a goal for the sheer brilliance of it, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it might have shaved the post.

I was sitting right behind it. Needless to say, redundant argument because the one guy whose opinion counted was the goal umpire and he called it.

No worries big fella, just my opinion.  Not worth arguing about it.

Edit - goal umpires can, and have, made mistakes in the past... but I digress.

Still a bit frustrated, no goal of the year will save it, the goal of the year should have been to be playing next weekend.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
