Lol Richmond..

Loving the fallout at Punt road website Such majesty loooovin it GO FREO ( Richtank another year in tatters! Lurve it!

The Sydney midfield is killing the Roos midfield despite Goldstein. Their contested work against the Roos is promising for us. Shows even with Goldstein, we can smack their midfield. Just need to keep Brown quiet. Frost to Brown for mine. Tommy Mac up forward alongside Hogan.

Wow, just noticed that Freo are 5-3.

Lucky 5-3 though just like we are an unlucky 4-4, but good on them they have taken there chances I will be very surprised if they make finals

That Freo loss is gonna be the most costly of the season. That they're ahead of us by a game, but their percentage is rubbing, is so infuriating!!!

Giants next week should inflict more pain on them! I seem to remember being shot down earlier in the year for suggesting we should wait til they play someone decent before we judge them as being any better than average

Depends where the rubbing is occurring, Jaded.  Might not be so infuriating in time.

Wow, great finish (and even better result!)

Freo were dead men walking.

Dusty Martin should get penalized 3x a quarter, but he is one of the AFL's 'untouchables'.

suck the big hairy ones, Richmond.  Special cheer goes out to the game's biggest sook - Jack Riewolt.

Be interesting to hear if he's still as arrogant on AFL360 this week. When they'd lost two in a row he said something like (paraphrasing): 'well, we're still 5 wins and going pretty well pfffh'.

They'll be out of the 8 next week. As will Geelong or Bulldogs (more likely Geelong though). Meanwhile, St Kilda will struggle to beat Sydney, although their pace may trouble the slower Swans midfield. The moral is, win next week and we'll be back in the 8.

Definitely agree with this. His 'don't argue' fend offs are just him shoving another player in the face or throat. Can't remember which match it was, but early in the year he pushed a player in the throat with such force that they couldn't breathe properly and had to come from the field with medical staff. Umpires didn't even pay a free kick. While it's great to see acts of strength or speed or athleticism in our game, they still need to be within the rules and Dusty should be penalised for his fend offs a lot of the time, but is obviously one of the untouchable players and so the umpires let him get away with it.
I loved when he tried it against us this year and barely broke through our first midfielder, then the second one came in and crunched him in the tackle. Umpire had no choice but to pay holding the ball while he was pinned to the ground looking sorry for himself. Was an absolute delight to see!

We really should be able to win the next three games. I'd be dissapointed to lose any of them.  7-4 mid year with no max would be amazing considering how close the four losses have been

I still think this season will continue to see us win games we aren't expected to and lose games we expect to win. Similar to last season, although there's no doubt we've narrowed the gap between our best and worst, we're still too inconsistent. I still think we'll do enough to make finals, but it's going to be a close thing though.

Getting a Ruckman back will help substantially.

Absolutely, OD. We have Gawn back next week and we win. Simple as that. But without him, we have to be switched on totally in the midfield, because it's all about sharking and ensuring the opposition mids don't have clean disposal out of the stoppages.

I'd imagine it's pretty similar commentary to what happened after we lost to Freo. Bloody dockers, MCG has never been a happy hunting ground for them and now they've pinched two close ones.

HA Ha I knew at some stage richmond would start to lose games. They get there supporters up and going and they start to talk top 4, finals and maybe a flag. Just watched the last 2 minutes off the AFL website. 2 goals were scored with 38 seconds to go on the clock. I reckon Dimma would be disappointed that Lachie Neale got away so easily with that last clearance. But it was good to watch.

Gold Coast were never going to win. They had a negative attitude about this trip. From there coach who was complaining about travel and pollution, Port embraced it and got involved learning the local culture.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
