but no one makes the right call on everybody at any club  or business , also i said he did smart things and stupid things, but only u are perfect

No i am not perfect. Tell me the smart things that CS did for the MFC, particularly during his 2nd stint, remembering that Sponsors couldn't wait to run away on many occasions.

Do we really need to go there for the umpteenth time? The buck stopped with CS and when the time came he resigned honourably instead of allowing the club to plunge deeper in trouble. There were plenty of others who didn't perform at the club who you can't say that about and when it's all said and done there's a conga line of failed CEOs on your criteria because, you might not have noticed, but we haven't won a flag since the days when Jimmy Cardwell ran the show.

I am interested in what DMMA considers to be the good things CS did for the club. Considering after he left it was discovered that we were back to $5mill in debt after he had given himself a new contract months before i don't consider CS' departure honourable at all

CS was a good talker which is what he still does today but in real terms he was a walking disaster.....

Is only relevant for us ...in time he's been here. Pretty good i reckon.

Let's not go back there boys...new club now.

You know my view of the past 'SWYL' but it serves no purpose to revisit now.

The lessons have been well learned & unless they are unlearned lets move on.

Not sure if the alleged debt claim amounted to us being in the same financial mess we were in when CS took over because when he left, we were substantially better off in terms of net assets.

After 2010 u could say the samething about CS things looked good,  only time will tell if jacko did every thing right,  in saying that I don't hope he did all things well but expect it

He did reconnected the MFC to the MCC

There was the much needed new desk and let's not forget Whiteboard Wednesday .

Also, WyL in his haste to slam poor old CS has forgotten to mention the swanky blazers, the bugle , the appointment of Neeld and I could go on but modesty prevents.

Did I say he did not do many stupid things he did but to say he did nothing good is so closed minded, and a stupid thing to say

Oh i am often wrong mate. I am trying to work out what that has to do with the previous CEO of the club.

When CS removed himself the club was in a catatonic state, whilst his pockets were full.

Are you a family member?

The credit for the Bentleigh Club goes to Joe Gutnick.  When the deal to finally deliver it to the MFC was done Schwab didn't even attend the Bentleigh Board meeting instead leaving it to CFO Matt Green to oversee. As the saying goes "a mans got to know his limitations" - a smart decision by Cam.  As I understand it the Gardner Board organized that there were MFC people on the Bentleigh Board to ensure we got the Club when the final chapter played out.

Credit to Joseph first and foremost and then to successive administrations but Joe is single handedly responsible for our net asset position now and it's a wonderful legacy.  Schwab just happened to be in the Chair at the time, a little like he was for our move to AAMI Stadium that was actually instigated by the Gardner Board and Steve Harris.

The reality is that we had a line of poor to incompetent CEO's going back to the late 90's and our Boards were little better.  Thankfully the AFL took the initiative and we are now in very good hands.

No but u said he did nothing right which is a very closed satement, without the bentleigh club and rejoining the Mcc there would be no club for PJ to saved, also it shows what kind of people we are I am center left u are far right, u like Tony Abbott, u only look at one side of the story!  I look at both sides of the story, at the end CS had to go,  and the stupid things out weighed the smart things, and now PJ has smoothed out the mistakes and taking the good things CS did.

Was I mistaken opening this thread expecting to read something about our new coach addressing expectations for the 2017 season?

Wow you are the first person to call me far Right good thing you don't know me :)

Vogon is correct  Schwab had nothing to do with the Bentleigh Club, but he bought a lovely desk for his office and did take out a low interest loan from The MFC rather than walk to his bank  a loan he did pay back in full.

CS should have been in "The Sting" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford

Thank heavens that's over

Well, technically we're heading into Year Four of a five year plan. I reckon after those five years, we're a real chance to pinch a flag. So as soon as 2019. From where we were in 2013, that's near incredible.

5 years from bad to top isn't exactly historical.  One N Smith took us from last in 53 to premiers 55,56,57,59,60,64.

To clarify, the AFL leant on us to take Schwab too, so they don't necessarily know what they're doing.

But, enough of this sad trip down memory lane.

Cant wait for 2017!

looking forward to a Goodwin Good  win !!  and many of them ;)
