The surprise packet of the year, Wagner was given an early opportunity in defence and was a consistent performer for most of the season before his form tapered off a little at the end. A good chance to be promoted to the main list.

Honestly the most surprising player of the year imo. I remember watching him in NAB Cup and saw him do a few awful things regarding disposal efficiency and since he has come in, his mistakes have been limited, although it isn't completely out of his game yet. Imo he definitely deserves an upgrade to the main list as he has had multiple 20+ disposal games and has shown a cool head in close games.

Big Wagner fan. I'd like to see him really attempt to cement a spot down there over the next couple of seasons. He seems like a hardworking no nonsense kid who just wants to get better. Bit T-mac about him in attitude and I like that. He and Hunt could be very exciting in years to come

Clearly a favoured younger player and did some really good things. Had some brain fades with his inside kicking. Fix that up and we have a good player.

Saw him a couple of times trying to corral players near the boundary line instead of bodying them over the line. Cost a goal on one occasion I can think of. Needs to get a bit more urgent and physical but overall looks like a player.

I remember thinking "wtf" when he was first selected.

Well, I think he showed everyone why he took games off more experienced players. Looking forward to see him progress in 2017.

Not sure his form quite warranted the long run of games he received, but I guess he did enough decent things each week to keep his spot. He probably has the most to lose from Hibberd coming, and for that reason I would keep him on the rookie list for another year.

We really haven't received any benefit from elevating the likes of Vandenberg and Magner in the past after one okay year.

    There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches.
