Things are a little more low key this week at the Casey Scorpions following last week's ground-breaking 70 point win over Footscray in the First Qualifying Final.

The win gives the seniors a week's break and they will be back in Preliminary Final action against the winner of the Williamstown v Sandringham Semi Final at North Port Oval on Saturday.

That game will be the curtain raiser for the weekend's big game - the Development League Preliminary Final between the Casey Scorpions and Williamstown.

One man who will not be taking part in the Preliminary Final is Melbourne's forgotten man Dean Terlich who was suspended for one match following the Qualifying Final win. The Scorpions have a few handy players likely to come in to replace him - Christian Salem, Jay Kennedy-Harris and rookie Joel Smith all missed last week's game.

The focus will turn to the JJ Liston Trophy on Monday night where Viv Michie, Alex Neal-Bullen and Jack Grimes have all been mentioned as potential winners. Problem is that they may all have taken away too many votes individually thereby preventing one of them from winning.

Casey's Declan Keilty is one of the favourites for the Fothergill-Round Medal for the most promising young talent in the competition.

KC can you confirm Terlich only got 1 game? I understand he got an extra game due to poor record, but does that mean he was originally found guilty but got 0 weeks?

It said one game in the tribunal report.

Would have gotten a reprimand but his record got him a game off.

Thanks Samael, that's what I was looking for.

Id read one game. And i'd read, an extra game due to bad record.  But i hadn't seen anywhere say, reprimand plus one game for the bad record, and just wanted to clarify.

I'm by no means a massive Terlich fan but I reckon he has been hard done by at melbourne these past two years.  I can't believe that he has been the only player undeserving of a call up in that time. I'm sure there are issues, in all, performance and personality, but it just seems a bit odd.

As a result, I hope we get to send him off with a win in the premiership.  It would cap a career where he has gotten the most out of his limitations.

Can anyone confirm which day we play? The Sat or Sunday?

The game has ebbed and flowed with Casey leading by 15 points at one stage but Williamstown kicked the last three goals of the quarter to lead by 3 points at the final break 76 - 73.

Seems there are two close games on today. One in Sydney between GWS and the Swans and the other in the VFL Development League.

Yep. Scores level with both sides on 91 but Casey the more accurate with 14.7.91 to Williamstown 13.13.91.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
