ANB was an emergency for the Port game, flew back and had a great game for Casey by the looks, he might get his chance if Garlett doesn't recover.

A shame. Players have a way of going up a gear against their old mob. Hopefully whoever comes in can get the job done.

If Carlton really are into JKH it might be worth showcasing him against them to try and drive up his trade value.

Why not? VFL form has been great since coming back.

Sure, with finals on the line, blow the cobwebs off a guy who hasn't played all year.

Last I heard was that players earned promotion to the ones by performing consistently well at Casey. JKH has done exactly that by accumulating high numbers of possessions and kicking goals in recent performances (best on ground last weekend I believe?). So if Garlett is not fit to play against Carlton, then why shouldn't he get his just reward?

If he plays a senior game now he will not be able to play finals with Casey as I understand the rules.

Really, I wouldn't have thought he'd played enough games in the ones this year to invoke that rule (has he played any?). I would have thought that as far as Casey is concerned, us playing ANB would possibly preclude him?

He's had about two games back at Casey, and we have about 8 other players who have been consistently picking up 30+ touches in the same games, and have much better form over the rest of the season.

Not that hard to work out, I wouldn't think.

That's great, but do they play the same position as Garlett?  To me, none of ANB, Newton, Trengove etc. play a similar role to the one Garlett gives us.  Kennedy and JKH are the two that come to mind.  I would have thought Kennedy would still be ahead as he is still playing some good footy for Casey, but JKH may not necessarily be too far behind in playing that high half forward role.

As I understand it hardtack if you have played a senior game you must then have played a min. of six games at Casey.

I think right now he has four games and with only two remaining a senior game will disqualify him from finals at Casey.

That assumes the seniors are not playing finals

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
