Yeah vaguely Clint....Ive just never noticed it before.

The top 4 with five rounds to go - Hawthorn, Sydney, Geelong and West Coast.

Those teams have won 10 of the last 11 flags.  This is equalisation, AFL style.

No, this is other teams being rubbish.

I feel for the Dogs. Injuries have ruined their season. That break to Wallis, my god poor guy looked in so much pain! Horrible.

With Adelaide losing yesterday, I just don't think that any half decent team will make the GF. Who the [censored] does one even barrack for on GF day? I suppose anyone but Hawthorn. Not that Geelong or Sydney will be much better. And GWS- not with Scully in the side!

If Hawks make the GF, it will be the first one I wont attend,  or watch live on TV, in well over 40 years. I just couldn't bear to see them win another.

Because every other team was starved of talent for year after year, solely to prop up two expansion clubs?

Cause and effect: the AFL is directly responsible for Hawthorn's incomparable dominance and every other team's inability to match them (oh, except Sydney, who are gifted top 2 players in the draft every year thanks to the Academy).

AFLPA need to answer to the fans on this too. They pushed to breaking point on the introduction of Free Agency at exactly the same time as all the draft concessions went to GWS and GCS. As a result we have an EPL situation developing in a competition that tries to mimic the NFL.

AFL has failed on equalisation - and it'd be really nice if some of the football 'journalists' in town started putting heat on them instead of the boring baying for blood that happens to the coaches this time of year.

You are kidding? I for one will applaud them for Canny recruiting, building a culture of success, NDH policy, great team oriented coaching and clever clever players many of which can win games of their own boot. I believe supporting them sends the AFL a sobering message,.... no matter how much you manipulate Drafting, The Draw, The Umpires, The Tribunal, and try so bloody hard for an expansion team to win a flag you cannot replicate what Hawthorn have. My god if they win they really are the greatest Footy team of all time. PERIOD! And they have done it Honestly, What a sensational achievement!

Hail the mighty Hawks!

Not likely; they get threatened with having their media accreditations cancelled. Who wants to lose out on free attendances for the whole season?

Should we be looking to reclaim one of our ex-players for our coaching staff to bring in some INTEL from the MelbourneHawks or are we just focussing on ex-essendon personnel?

Adem? David? Cameron?

Free Agency has filled holes in their list. That's not purely canny recruiting. That's a manipulation exploited so guys who makes 500K a year can make 480K but play for a team that with them will finish top 4.

Don't get me wrong, they've done a lot right, but events have lined up well for them.

This is the AFL introducing 2 teams and butchering the chances of lower teams to bridge the gap with the already established top teams.

Yes agree, but sheeit you still have to go out and win and win and win again. Great culture, great team!

Crikey I cannot imagine what I would be like if the DEES were like this team, gee's I'd be totally arrogant!

Nah, you'd be calling for the CHB to be traded

Nar, coz he wouldn't be getting agame in this outfit! ;)

I reckon Hawthorn would go after TMAC if Gibson retired. Tmac + Frawley = super defence.

They'll probably swoop in with an offer at the end of the year. Would not surprise me in the least, probably why he hasn't re-signed. They went after Carlisle after all...

GWS now sitting second on the ladder

While we do not love them... beating Port in Adelaide is not an easily dismissed victory

I made my first bet several weeks ago, my first bet for about 20 years and for a sizeable sum for me anyway; this one is on the Dorks to win the flag. I am expecting a big pay out so I will be happy and if by some extraordinary upset I won't be all that sad. This is about therapy.

I can't believe Sportsbet was offering 6 to 1 several weeks ago, the odds have since moved into 3.75. Two games clear on top, the Dorks won't have to play away from home in the finals, who is going to beat them from here? Should be money for jam!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
